Action Research Worksheet

Name __________________________________________________________
Date _______________

1. Describe your problem, situation, or observation.

a. What it is? How did it come about?

Ans: Getting the attention of the students whenever I discuss the

lesson especially those subjects that quite difficult for them to
understand is a tough matter to the teacher and it affect on how the
learners learn from the discussion of the teacher. Attention of the
Learners during the discussion of the teacher is very relevant in
achieving the objectives of the lesson because it affect the students
understanding.

b. What can YOU do about it? What changes you can make in
your teaching?

Ans: I should strategize my teaching techniques by means of

integrating the new trends of styles to increase the attention of the
learners. Instead of the chalk and board discussion I will integrate the
team learning by applying one of the collaborative learning styles The
Number Heads Together approach.

c. If your plan works, what kind of changes are you likely to see?

Ans: If this idea will work to the students, the teacher expected that
students will improve their interest in dealing with the lesson and it
will increase their chance to understand and comprehend the topic
that the teacher is discussing to them.

d. What obstacles might arise as you implement your plan?

Ans: The cooperation and willingness of the students in doing the said
strategies is the obstacles that might affect the implementation of the
strategies.

1. Turn your problem and your plan into a research question.

a. If I change my teaching like this Collaborative learning approach –
Number Heads Together how will students improve their attention in
the class discussion.

2. Outline your specific plan.

a. List the specific steps and actions in your plan to resolve the research
question.

Ans: The following steps enumerated below is the plan in conducting

the research study.

Step 1. The Teacher will construct the planning phase of the

study and select the best strategies that fit to solve the problem.

Step 2. Select the respondent of the study and conduct the

preliminary test.

Step 3. The researcher will formulate a schedule of the conduct

of the study.

Step 4. Conducting of the Study.

Step 5. Conduct the post-test and interpret the result.

3. Outline the method of study. (What triangulated data will you collect to
get more insight into your question or see if the intervention works?

a. written products

Ans: The result of the test for both pre and post will be collected and
tabulated to come up with the most reliable and valid result. The
result of the quizzes while the strategies is being conducted will be
kept as basis of the implementation of the teaching strategies.

b. performance observations

Ans: The participation of the students during the conduct of the

experimentation will be observed and recorded to have a conclusion
on the factors that may affect in the implementation of the strategies
and determine its advantages and disadvantages.

c. oral interviews

Ans: While the experimentation is being implemented the respondent

will asked about their perception on the techniques that the teacher
uses to the students.
4. When will you do it? Make a timeline. (Work backwards from the
deadline.)

Ans: This research will be conducted in the school year 2019 – 2020. The
timeline of conducting the study is shown below.

August – Planning and Selecting of Respondent

September – Conducting of Preliminary Test and Scheduling of

experimentation

November to December – Conducting of the experimentation

January – Conducting of Post-Test and Interpretation of Result

February – Presentation of the Result

1. Summarize how you’ll analyze and report the result of the Action
Research project.

a. What did you find? What humps, surprises, or paradoxes did you
notice? What might you do differently next time?

Ans: The student’s attention in the class significantly increasing

during the implementation of the experiment. They are excited in
every activity because it involves the cooperation of everyone in the
group.

The leader in every group are challenge to lead their group

because if the teacher ask one member of each group the score that
will be generated will be the score of the entire member of the group.

b. How will you report what you’ve learned? (e.g., written report,
presentation, etc.)

Ans: The result of the study will be presented to the faculty of the
school where I currently teaching for them to have an idea on the
research that I have conducted. They will be given a chance to
strategies also their techniques in delivering their lessons to the
students or maybe they could adapt the strategies of the researcher.
Conducting Classroom Research

I. Classroom Problem/Question

Why is it important to you? To others? Will you REALLY work on it?

Ans: The students learning is consider as one of the objectives of the

department and if this strategy shows significant result in improving
the learners knowledge and understanding to the lesson it will really
become important not only for me but in the entire teaching force of
the department because it will helps realize the advocacy of the
DepEd which is the SULONG EDUKALIDAD.

Your Possible Instructional Change: The PLAN

Consider ideas from readings, colleagues, etc. Be specific.

Ans: Possibly, the traditional chalk and board will lessen its
utilization because the teacher will group the students in every
discussion and they will help each other to understand the lesson
that the teacher discusses to them because the participation of each
member will affect the entire group.
II. Method of Studying Your New Instructional Plan

Collect data; triangulate evidence

III. Summary

Explain how the problem changed, didn't change—or maybe became

worse—because of changes in your instruction.

Ans: It shows in my observation that the attention of the students in

the class discussion increases and their willingness to understand the
topic that I discuss to them. They are motivated to learn the lesson
because if I ask them a question and they will not got the correct
answer the entire member where they are in group will be affected.
Action Research Plan Summary

1. Describe the problem or situation.

Ask questions about your practice and what YOU can do about them.
(What control do you have over the problem? What changes in your
teaching can you make to help solve the problem?)

Ans: What maybe the factors affecting the attention of the students? I
should innovate the way I teaches my students. Instead of the traditional
way of teaching I must try different learning styles that will fit to my
students.

2. Make a plan to resolve the problem in steps.

Step 1. Planning and selecting the best strategies to address the problem.

Step 2. Selecting the Respondent and Conducting the Preliminary test

Step 3. Scheduling the Conduct of Experimentation.

Step 4. Conducting of Experimentation.

Step 5. Conducting of Post Test and Interpretation of Result.

3. Anticipate obstacles you might face in completing your plan and

consider how you can overcome them.

State what you’ll expect to see if the plan works as a research question.

“If I change my teaching techniques into collaborative how will students

attention improve?”

4. What data will you collect to study the plan in action?

a. Two column observation sheets? What will you observe and when?

b. Checklists? What will they include and when will you use them?

c. Students’? Work? What kind and when?

d. Interviews? What will you ask and when?

e. Your own journal? What will you write and when?

Ans: The Researcher will use the two-column observation sheet and
checklist to record the changes that might happen whenever the
experimentation is being conducted to the learners.

5. What is your timeline for enacting your action plan and conducting
your data collection?

Time What you will do?

Step 1 Planning and selecting the best strategies to address the

problem.

Step 2 Selecting the Respondent and conducting the preliminary

test

Step 3 Scheduling the Conduct of Experimentation

Step 4 Conducting of the Experimentation

Step 5 Conducting of Post-Test and Interpretation of the Result

Feedback Checklist for Action Research

1. Does the research question seem focused enough to be “do-able”? Is

it something the researcher can actually control? If not, how can it
be modified to make it more simple and controllable?

Ans: Before the questionnaire gives to the respondent it was

evaluated and validated by the expert in this field to assure that the
questions in the research is enough to generate a most reliable and
valid result. Since the research is the one to construct the questions
of the research it can be easily controlled and address the issues
that will arise during the experimentation.

2. Does the plan seem to address the problem in a reasonable way? If

not, make suggestions.

Ans: Yes, because its shown a significant improvement in the

students in terms of Participation, Interaction, Understanding and
performance while the lesson is being discusses to them.

3. Are anticipated obstacles addressed? Have you considered ways to

overcome them?

Ans: The research is surprised to the reaction of the student while

the experimentation is being conducted their willingness to
participate in the new technique show a very high level and their
interaction is quite impressive.

4. Are the data gathering procedures sufficient to give evidence of

whether the plan works or not?

Ans: The procedure of the research on how it will be conducted is

constructed thoroughly and I think it give sufficient evidence to
conclude that it help to come up to a very promising result of the
study.
5. Is the timeline realistic? If not, make suggestions.

Ans: Yes, because the plan timeline is the basis on when to conduct
the study and when to finish and it follows successfully.

6. What else would you suggest?

Ans: Continues innovation in the teaching techniques I what I could

suggest because the generation of our learners changes the styles on
how the will learn effectively and this will helps the department to
achieve its mission of delivering quality education to the Filipino
learners.
