CHAPTER 1

LESSON 1

P. 2

C.

1. Are you aware of the action research process?

-Yes.

2. What prompted you to conduct action research?

-The data I’ve obtained from checking the students’ modules prompted me to conduct the action
research.

3. What are your action research topics?

-My action research topic was lifted from the theme of teaching and learning, specifically on technology
integration.

4. Do you have enough time to conduct action research?

-Yes, I was able to conduct the research activities on their designated timelines as presented on the part
five of the action research format, Work Plans and Timelines.

5. Are there incentives for teachers who conduct action research?

-A completed action research can be used as an attachment for Master Teacher promotion under the
“Initiated or headed educational research duly approved by educational authorities” criterion (Llego et
al., 2019). A fund is also granted to teachers conducting action research by the Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) amounting to but not more than P50, 000 (CHED K to 12 Transition Program, 2018)

6. How did action research improve your teaching practices?

-Action research had led me to do more reflections on my teaching practices at what should be changed,
developed, or improved. This also gave me a chance to investigate the different practices used by other
teachers on the same area and apply it on my own.

7. How did action research enhance students’ learning?

-The students were motivated on answering their modules. There were able to gather and analyze
information, build knowledge, and think critically using the credible source provided by the action
research.

8. How did you disseminate the result s of your action research?

- I shared the results obtained in the study through oral presentations and during LAC Sessions to the
classroom advisers for them to try the intervention that I’ve used in the study. This is stated on the
seventh part of the action research format, Plan for Dissemination and Utilization.

P. 5

A.

1. Who influenced you to conduct action research?

-Action research paper writing is included in our curriculum in college days, and it was taught to us by
our professors to be an essential part in the teaching-learning process. This was also highlighted on one
of the talks of the speakers in the In-Service training for teachers

2. Who prompted you to conduct action research?

-Upon identifying the problem, the researcher consulted his immediate head teacher to know the
process creating solution to address the problem. She encouraged me to conduct action research to
create an intervention.

3. What was your experience when you conducted your first action research?

-The initial stages of conducting action research were difficult. Writing the proposal needs a lot of
literature review, which was an arduous job. The pre-test post-test and the intervention was carefully
crafted so that it is aligned to answer the research questions. The treatment of data, finalization of
paper and submission of the final paper was laborious. The dissemination of the results of the action
research to be used by other educators was fulfilling.

4. How do you disseminate the results of your action research to other teachers?

-I distributed copies of the result of the study to the science teachers. I let them disseminate and utilize
the results of the study. An oral presentation during the LAC session was also conducted.

5. How does action research help you as a teacher?

-Action research encouraged me to reflect on my practices in the classroom and find ways to better
employ them. This also helped me look for possible solutions for prevailing problems in the classroom.
6. What are the lessons you learned from your action research?

-I learned that through action research, new knowledge emerges. Findings in the action research results
to better situational understanding of the classroom. This will cause a change to be implemented
leading to informative action and critical reflection of one’s practice.

P. 12

B.

1. How did you select your topics for action research?

-The topics for action research must be from the Basic Education Research Agenda with ideas on
teaching and learning, child protection, human resource development, and governance themes: disaster
risk reduction management, gender and development, and inclusive education (Llego et al., 2022). I’ve
based my action research topic from the above themes, narrowing it on the poor results of the
assessments from the students’ responses to their modules.

2. What prompted you to embark on these topics?

- I want to understand what is happening in the classroom and to determine what might improve
student learning in that setting.

3. How did you select the questions for your action research questions?

-I investigated the relationship of the perceived problem in my teaching practice in creating my research
questions. First, I searched for intervention, the solution, strategy, or intervention that I want to use to
address the useful issue that I have found must be clearly stated. Second, the participants, the subjects
or participants of the research must be included for specificity. And third outcome state the expected
behavior performance or skill as target outcome of the study.

4. How long did you conduct your action research?

-My action research took six (6) months to be accomplished, from writing the research proposal to the
submission of the paper.

5. What challenges and problems did you encounter while conducting your action research?

-The identification of the research problem was the first challenge encountered. Searching for relevant
literature to the selected topic was also the major problem met. Literature review is essential because it
gives the theoretical background of the study and acts as the connection between the proposed study
and what has previously been studied, and lastly, it incorporates the research findings into the current
body of knowledge. Choosing the right methods and statistical tools to answer the research questions
were also identified as challenges by the researcher.
