MECHANICS FOR THE GROUP LEARNING PORTFOLIO

1. The class will be divided according to their pre-established small groupings which
composed of a minimum of 5 members and a maximum of 7.
2. Each group will be encouraged to practice the designed common project for the
advocacy. However, each group will be required to decide for its specific details.

COMMON PROJECT will be the collection of plastic bottles [or other materials] in
their respective community which they could sell to junk shops. The earned money
from selling the bottles can be saved and be donated either to the Calamity fund
(c/o OCES Department) or Share a meal program (c/o OSA). The group may
decide for the frequency of remittance (this should be stipulated in the concept
paper). Also the receipt for the remittance should be kept for the purposes of
documentation in the portfolio.
a. Basic details for consideration:
i. How many bottles can the group members commit to collect per week?
ii. How would be the arrangement for the selling of the collected items to the
junk shops?
iii. To which office (OCES or OSA) do they wish to donate their proceeds?
iv. How frequent would the remittance be (e.g. weekly, twice a month, monthly,
or by the end of the advocacy duration)?

3. Aside from the common project, each group should have to decide for an additional
project which will be implemented simultaneously with the common project. The
additional project will form secondary part of the group manifesto.

b. ADDITIONAL PROJECT will be decided by the group 

i. specific details of its implementation needs to be indicated too since this will
be the basis of determining its accomplishments.

4. After the presentation of the group manifesto, the group can already begin the
actual implementation.
5. The implementation of the advocacy projects should as much as possible avoid
risky or dangerous areas and methods, meaning this should be a part of the
ordinary practices but making it extra-ordinary through its faithful and sincere
abidance to the simple protocols of life which we often tend to neglect.
6. The official simple but extra-ordinary implementation of the advocacy projects
begins December while February 25 to March 8, 2019 is reserved for full blast
apostolate and/or development of the portfolio.
7. March 11-15, 2019 will be the group oral presentation of the accomplishments in
the advocacy project.

Reminders for the implementation:

1. Always prioritize personal safety. Avoid going to hazardous and dangerous places.
Hence, prospect places/communities need to be presented to their respective
teachers before the actual implementation. Nonetheless, family environment and
immediate community are the highly recommended target areas.
2. It must not affect the students’ academic schedule.
3. Maintain the documentation of any activities performed connected to the advocacy.

documents such as pictures, letters (if there are any), receipts from the junk shops
and remittances to the chosen primary beneficiaries, and proof of participation of
their respective immediate communities like their families, families in their
neighboring communities and support of the barangay officials.
4. The last part would present the group reflection which sharply and clearly
narrating the significant learning from the activity and its connection to other social
issues.

to the group?
