DRONES

Drones or the earliest unmanned aerial vehicle were first invented in 1907. An unmanned aerial
vehicle is an aircraft without a human pilot on board. UAVs are a component of an unmanned
aircraft system; which include a UAV, a ground-based controller, and a system of
communications between the two. The world’s first quadcopter was created by inventor brothers
Jacques and Louis Bréguet, working with controversial Nobel Prize winner Professor Charles
Richet. While undoubtedly exciting, it had some big limitations: being unsteerable, requiring
four men to steady it, and — in its first flight — lifting just two feet off the ground. But it did
innovate the quadcopter form factor we have today.

Drones do work as they are equipped with different state of the art technology such as
infrared cameras, GPS and laser (consumer, commercial and military UAV). Drones are
controlled by remote ground control systems (GSC) and referred to as a ground cockpit.
An unmanned aerial vehicle system has two parts, the drone itself and the control system.
The nose of the unmanned aerial vehicle is where all the sensors and navigational systems are
present. The rest of the body is full of drone technology systems since there is no need for space
to accommodate humans.
Drones (or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) to give them their official title) have already
made a big splash within certain sectors of society. This has been mainly with tech-savvy

consumers in recent years along with the defense industry. However, drones are becoming
increasingly common throughout other sections of society for the way they can handle tough,
time-consuming and dangerous jobs. The drone sector is forecasted to reach $127 billion and
many organizations are starting to realize how valuable drones will be to their services.
The engineering materials used to build the drone are highly complex composites designed to
absorb vibrations, which decrease the noise produced. These materials are very light weight.
There are many more ways drones can help from defense to emergency rescues, waste
management and within the energy sector. Of course, it’s not just business that drones will have
an impact on. Drones will be used by people to have fun with or for leisure purposes as the
technology grows.
