Subject: Structural Stability of Access Galleries (Adequacy of roof slab Reinforcement)

We would like to share one observation with respect to structural stability of the access galleries (right
and left) and seeking your expert opinion /advice regarding the adequacy of steel reinforcement given
in the tender (construction) drawings.

Please refer Drawing No.201.21-A wherein cross section 1C-1C Raised Gravity Pat is provided. As given
in the drawings that existing access galley shall be extended in 15.0 m length. Similarly, RCC will be
extended in 15.0 width. As shown in the drawings that access Gallery structure will accommodate RCC
fill on its top. RCC fill will be placed in slope, hence, at outer part of the gallery the fill be zero and at
inner part RCC fill will be around 17.0 m.

Please refer drawings No.202.01.04 wherein steel reinforcements details are provided for access
galley. As indicated in Section 2-2 that the reinforcements detail of that section reveals that 16 mm
bars are provided at 30 cm C/C; which looks insufficient to withstand the huge RCC load over it.

We would request to reanalyse above section with respect to structural stability (adequacy of steel
reinforcement) to accommodate the RCC fill/load above it.

Please advise urgent because currently construction activities are in progress in stated area.
