Lingo Outreach Camp Report

On 12th January 2019, we R3 and R2 teacher trainees had involved in an English

language camp named “Lingo Outreach” in SK Perpaduan which was organised by library
department of IPG Ipoh Campus. Around twenty nine of us went to the primary school that
day. The aim of the camp was to motivate and to encourage the pupils to love English
language as well as to improve their proficiency level in English language. Before we
organise the camp, we had a discussion with Madam Azza and come up with an
organisation to ease the implementation of the activities. So, I was given a job to be the
photographer and in charge for the materials needed for the station games that will be
conducted during the camp.

Moreover, I had a discussion with my classmates and make a list of materials needed
for each station so that I can give the list to the lecturer. After two days, myself and Pramila
went to take the materials from our lecturer, Madam Azza and distribute it to our classmates
accordingly. After that, on the day of the camp, there were seven stations which were all
focused on language games. So, I had done my job as a photographer by snapping photos
throughout the camp to ease the documentation later. Before the games began, there was
an ice-breaking activity with the pupils. The pupils danced so happily and it enabled
everybody to feel more comfortable and at ease with one another.

Furthermore, groups were formed and then in groups, they had to race to different
destinations to fulfil a task. There were altogether seven stations. Once the whistle was
blown, all the pupils rushed to their respective stations. It was fun-filled activities and it was a
great success. Pupils were seen to be talking, laughing and joking among themselves in
English Language. What a great sight! The main purpose of the programme was achieved.
So, I was able to take as much photos as I can around each station and send those photos
in the group. I saw the pupils interact and play the game without a strike of boredom.

All said and done, it has been a great experience though it was a tiring day for me.
Million thanks for the organiser of this camp to give such an opportunity to mingle with the
pupils even after the first practicum. This camp recalls back all the memories I had during my
practicum as I used to conduct such interesting language games among my pupils. Last but
not least, though there were more strengths, there will be always a room for improvement.
Whatever it is, the less comes from me, the more comes from the God!
