Role of a Future Medical Technologist

As a graduate of Medical Technology one can stay in the clinical laboratory or may

prefer the more unconventional one – to teach the future pioneers of the course. Thus, a

teacher, a professor or an instructor if you call it, the ones who should be well prepared,

eloquent and knowledgeable of the subject they’re handling, for first and for most – crafting

a future professional, needs guidance. So, what’s the role of a teaching Medical Technologist

in guiding the student towards the course matter? First, the most basic one, they stand and

deliver lessons, and simplify complex concepts regarding the topic, for a more thorough

understanding in the students’ part. Secondly, application, the pillars of the course for it

require skills and seemed to be the simulator of our future job, hence, as an educator he or

she must effectively impart and assist the students during laboratory works and processes

in relation with the course. Thirdly, we all know that a part of guidance is the safety of the

students, so, as a teaching Medical Technologist, he or she must be knowledgeable of the

safety measures in doing certain activities and must ensure proper working conditions.

Fourthly, is of course the most horrifying yet beneficial on the student’s part – monitoring

and managing the students through assessments, practical and exams.

And lastly which I think is the most impactful role of an educator – is being a

motivator. What’s a course, if the students are less driven? Thus, he or she must be able to

help and motivate the students into loving the course through showing passion in his or her

job and exerting effort to fit into his or her roles as an educator, for a motivated teacher

radiates and spreads will power on the students. Which in result, would prosper determined

future professionals that soon will contribute and help for the betterment of the community.
