Greetings of peace and goodwill!

With the passage of the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 or Republic Act 10533, the DepEd was tasked
to implement the K to 12 Program, essentially adding two (2) years of specialization within the Basic
Educational System with the major objective of ensuring that graduates of basic education are ready for
employment, entrepreneurship and higher learning. In response to this challenge, San Agustin NHS
offered the following Tracks, Strands and TVL combinations: Academics-GAS, TVL-HE (Bread and Pastry
NCII, Food and Beverage NCII, Hair Dressing NCII) and TVL-ICT (Programming Java NCIII, Animation
NCII), for we believe that these strands and combination are the main economic drivers in our community
and the in-demand jobs in the country right now.

With the implementation of these curricular programs for School Year 2016-2017, we found issues needing
immediate resolution. On the case of our TVL-HE Offering, we saw a great decline in attendance to the
Hair Dressing class and found out that the main driver is male students’ apprehensions particularly on the
connotation that Hair Dressing is for female students only. On the other hand, basing on the latest Senior
High School Early Registration results, we found out that a lot of our current students are wanting to take
the ABM strand in Mater Dei College and with the booming commercial businesses in our locality, we saw
these as a wake-up call to review our offerings for us to cater to the needs of our students in the locality.

It is on this connection that we would like to express our intention to offer the following additional strands
coming School Year 2017-2018: (1) Academics Track – ABM Strand, to address the demands of our students
and our locality; (2) TVL Track – HE Strand (Bread and Pastry NCII, Food and Beverage NCII, Cookery
NCII) to address our male students’ apprehensions in the Hair Dressing offering. We believe that given the
chance for the implementation of these additional strands, San Agustin NHS will be able to manifest the
VISION of the Department, thus we thank you in advance.
