Why do you want to leave your former place of work?

For me, it is not a question of why I want to leave my former place of work but why I feel it is time to
transition to a difference phase of my career. As a young accountant at XYZ LTd, I had set goals for
myself with appropriate timelines. Each goal was tied to specific roles and sectors of the industry. I had
always wanted to see things from both ends - the private and the public sector. Both sectors have
unique challenges and learning curves. I have been able to gather adequate experience and knowledge
working in the private sector and I know it is time to apply this knowledge to more complex and macro
challenges which can be found in the public sector.

Where do you hope to be in 10years time?

All the decisions I have made and the paths I have taken right from the first day I decided to enroll for
the ICAN certification examination have led me to this point. In 10 years or the nearest future, I hope to
have gotten to the pinnacle of my career as an accountant/finance expert...talk all those your finance
dreams and any more technical bullshit. Better still; mirror one of your mentor's current level in life

Why do you want to work with the NNPC?

u just need to research NNPC well and then know some of the key things u will be doing or the role they
play in regulating the petroleum industry in Nigeria. You can now say you have acquired skills that you
think are best suited for these roles and you strongly believe that you can make an impact on a larger
scale due to the regulatory nature of nnpc

don't forget to cite patriotism...love for country and your innermost desire to effect changes in the way
things are done in the country. if possible, use one poorly executed initiative done in the past or
currently running

this is to show that u do not only talk but can offer solutions on the spur of the moment. this will be
confirmed when u later mention your strengths in number 4

What are your strengths and weakness?

For me, my weaknesses are my strengths for this is what makes me strive to be better with each passing
day. you can now list one or two weaknesses in a positive manner. Using myself as an example, I could
say my fear of failure is what keeps me up at night and drives me to succeed at every given task. you can
also say, I deliberate too much on the minor issues due to the fact that I want to always churn out or
produce water-tight results. more like saying, you like to go over the details countless times. you can
now quickly flow on to say, your deep analytical skills and creative mind are your strengths. weave the
narrative around your strengths so they leave a lasting impression
