What should Flipkart do to remain dominant in future?

Flipkart’s major competitor is Amazon. Amazon has moved to number 1 e-commerce site in
India toppling flipkart 2017. Amazon had huge impact on the Indian market, having the
previous experience of global market business. Flipkart started to falter mid-way once
Amazon India hit the market, competitiveness took to anew level and sales shot to sky
touching values. Below are few points which flipkart should stress upon and to regain
position.
The main idea should be revolving around sellers as they are a key player in this business, so
get as many sellers as possible, which amazon is doing very effectively to increase the
inventory. Also, sellers should be given upper hand in this business so that sales could be
increased.
Logistics, it is necessary for this industry to have logistics support. So, since Flipkart is
already having its own logistics arm E-kart, it can provide this logistics service to its
competitors in online retail industry.
In this type of industry, price matters a lot to customers. If same product is offered by two e-
tailers at two different prices, customers will go for the lowest price. So, Flipkart should try to
offer the products at lower prices. This can be done by optimizing its logistics services. Since
logistics cost plays an important role in determining the price of the product. Flipkart should
try to optimize its supply chain in such a manner that its supply chain costs should be very less
and try to offer products at lower price compared to its competitors.

“Flipkart can also employ relationship marketing into it. Instead of mainly focusing on
customer acquisition, it should also focus on customer retention. Because loyal customers are
more profitable when compared to new customers.”

Also, Flipkart should focus more on its Research and development wing and create innovative
ways to come up with new breakthrough ideas like previously they did for COD and doorstep
credit/debit card payments upon delivery. In addition to this Flipkart should also explore the
AI, ML, Big data and predictive analytics fields more as it will play a deciding role in future.
Flipkart should moreover look into the Private label business as this can ensure profit in
marketplaces where sellers commission is less, along with this earn loyalty of customers as
well.

Omni channel strategy can be emphasised on, as 99% of the shopping is still offline. So, this

connecting with such stores and keeping them as sellers.

Most importantly to survive in the market flipkart should ensure quality of service, delivery
and customer satisfaction.
