Proposal:

Customized Yoga for 1st Year Students of IIT Bhubaneshwar

Dear Dr.SS.Yadav,

My name is Dibyaroop ‘Deboo’ Padhi.

I have been practicing Yoga for the past 10 years, in addition to my 5+ years of
experience as an Engineer , and Manager post-MBA.

Currently, I am pursuing my Masters in Yoga at Sri Sri University.

My Counter Proposal to your needs for a Yoga Instructor @ IIT Bhubaneshwar:

Sirs,

Based on your need for 1Male + 1 Female Instructor for your batch size of 360 students, I
propose that award the contract for the Instruction process to me. 4 Batches of 90
students each on Saturday + Sunday. The price is open to negotiation.

Why?:

A single, permanent faculty, with or without a Yoga Certificate, is a classic invitation to

repetition. What your students need is not classical, repetitive Yoga, but Customized,
Creative Yoga. I am offering you this for Rs.50000 per month (1 male + 1 Female)

For Yoga that challenges their Body, Stimulates their Mind, and boosts Creativity.

How?:

Yoga for the 1st Year students will be customized thus: (With Personalized Attention)

 July - Rainy Season – Yoga for an Immune System Boost, to keep out Coughs, Colds,
Allergies, Viral Fever and Work-Days lost to Sick-Leave. New Students are prone to
Sickness in the beginning. Customized Yoga will help make them stronger. Both in
Body and in Mind ( Dhyana)
 August – Yoga for Creativity – Brain Activity Boosting Yogic Exercises. Emphasis on
Pranayamas and Yogic Asanas, Mudras that direct a lot of blood flow to the brain.
In conjunction with Yogic Research @ IIT. *
 November- Beginning of Winter – Yoga to Boost the Metabolism. The Students are
after all, still Nine-Teen. Their Bodies will grow more, if their Metabolism is increased.
Yoga for awakening the inner ‘Jathara-Agni’.

Additionally:

 Every Second Saturday – Full Day Personalized Yoga for Families of Faculty.
 The Sample Size of 360 in 4 Batches of 90 provides an excellent ‘Sample Size’ for IIT
to conduct Research of the Yogic Kind. We can help with that. IIT Bhubaneshwar
will have full-co-ownership of said research.
 No other Institutes of Excellence are conducting Research on the benefits of Yoga
on Engineering Studies. IIT Bhubaneshwar would be a Pioneer in such research.

Sample -- Yoga for the Creative Brain

There’s a good reason why our Brain demands 20% of our Body’s Oxygen and an equal
percentage of the Blood being pumped by our Heart.

Because it is the most highly evolved Organ we have within us.

And to keep evolving it further, to keep pushing the Human Race forward, Yoga for the
Creative Brain of Students is a must!

Before we begin:
The Basics of the Brain’s Anatomy:

The Brain has 3 Basic Sections –

 Cerebrum ( The Thinking, Analytical, Stimulatory Part)

 Cerebellum (The Movement controller)
 Brain Stem (The Autonomic controller)

The Brain is surrounded by a protective fluid called the Cerebro-Spinal-Fluid. It fills the Skull,
and the Cavities within the Brain as well.

What Yoga tries to do is, by the practice of certain Pranayamas, Japas, Chanting and
Asanas, Vibrate this Cerebro-Spinal-Fluid (CSF) [Shown in Blue] within the Brain, stimulating
and massaging it, inside-out.

Cerebro-Spinal-Fluid (CSF) within the Brain’s Cavities

But Why ?
Vibrating this CSF caused the vibrations to spread outwards to the parts of the Brain that
are used the most during the Creative Thought Process. The Body reacts to these
vibrations by sending in a rush of fresh blood to these areas, nourishing the Neuron Cells of
the Brain, and boosting the ability to generate an Original Idea.

How will it help a Student ?

Creativity is what Guides us. It thrives in us. Without it, we are Zombies.

Yoga to Boost a Student’s Creativity, is the Best Gift a Student can give Himself or Herself.

Yoga for Creativity:

Pranayamas:

1. Bhramari (The Humming Bee):

 Sit in any comfortable Asana with the eyes closed.

 Use the Index Fingers to seal off the Ear Canals from external sounds.
 Take a Deep Breath In.
 While exhaling slowly, generate a loud ‘Mmmm’ sound from within.
 Try to focus on the source of the sound.
 Feel the Vibrations the Sound generates within your Skull.
 Try to visualize the Spinal Fluid vibrating and Brain getting Massaged.
 When exhalation is complete, stop the sound.
 Repeat 10 times.
Benefits:

Relieves exam stress, boosts blood flow to brain and if accompanied by Visualization of
an Object/Idea, greatly enhances memory and retentive abilities.

When to do this Pranayama ?:

 Before Beginning your Studies. (Enhances Memory)

 While trying to think of something ‘New’ (Creative Juices)
 Before the Exams. (It relaxes, stimulates the Mind)
 Before Sleeping at Night. (Relaxes the Body)

2. Kapala-Bhati (Frontal Brain Cleansing):

 Sit in Sukhasana, close the eyes.

 Take a deep breath in. Retain it.
 Exhale it completely.
 The next inhalation should be passive.
 Just breathe in a little air.
 Exhale forcefully, several times, moving the stomach.
 The stomach and Diaphragm should vibrate.
 Like a Bellows, both should go in and out. Up and down.
 Repeat 10 times.

Benefits:

The pressure generated upwards drives the CSF to the frontal lobes of the brain. The
Thinking, Speech, areas. They get a boost from the added O2 and Blood spike.

3. Asanas to Try : (To calm the Mind, Steady it)

 Shashanka-Asana ( The Rabbit) :

 Sarvanga-Asana (The Shoulder Stand) :

Creativity thrives in:

 An Oxygen Rich-Environment.
 An Energy Rich-Environment.

These Pranayamas and Asanas help provide exactly that to our

Brain.

Please try them before unleashing your creativity.

To get the next Big Idea, that can Change the World !
