PROCEDURES FOR 4.

1/4” OD HYDRAULIC DISCONNECT

NOTE: ALL TUBULARS SHOULD BE DRIFTED TO 2.1/4” AS THE DART OD IS 2.1/8” AT THE
BULLNOSE.THE PORTION OF THE TOOL WITH THE SHEAR PINS ( 3 Ea ) IS LEFT DOWN
HOLE. ASSEMBLIES ARE LISTED BOTTOM TO TOP .

1. * Following the Abandonment Programme for the ??? Hole Section proceed to Make up the Hydraulic
disconnect tool as follows:

X m/Ft 3.1/2” or 2.7/8” OD TUBING Connections Variable

Crossover if Required
4.1/4” OD HYDRAULIC DISCONNECT 3.1/2 NEW VAM BOX – 3.1/2 NEW VAM BOX
3.1/2” or 2.7/8” OD TUBING Connections Variable
Crossover from Running String ??? Box – 3.1/2 NEW VAM PIN
Running String Connections Variable

The connection torque on the Hydraulic disconnect is as follows:

4,881 Nm ( 3,600 FtLbs)

NOTE: WHEN MAKING UP THE TUBING TO THE DISCONNECT AT NO TIME SHOULD THE TUBING
TONG BE PLACED ACROSS THE TWO HALVES OF THE TOOL.

ALSO NOTE THAT TOOL IS 4.1/4” OD SO TONG JAWS WILL HAVE TO BE AVAILABLE TO FIT.

The amount of tubing run below and above the Disconnect tool will be determined closer to the time of abandonment.

2. * Run assembly to bottom as per programme.Tensile yield is 80 Kdan and torsional yield is 10,779 Nm.

3. * Proceed as per cementation programme.

The dart release method is dependant on whether a Cementing Head or simple circulation sub is used and can be
determined closer to the time.

4. * Displace cement at desired rate without slowing pump down as Dart nears the Hydraulic disconnect
tool. The Hydraulic disconnect is pinned to shear at 17,239 Kpa (see note below) .Note however that the
actual shearing pressure can be as high as 48,260 Kpa due to the friction caused by the weight of the
string hanging below

5. * Once the tool has been disconnected it is fully open with no restriction-the dart will have been blown out
with the release of the lower half of the string. At this point proceed with programme and displace remaining
cement for Kick Off plug/T-Plug.

6. * With cementation program completed proceed to lay out tubing and remains of Hydraulic Disconnect
tool.

PLEASE READ IMPORTANT NOTES ON PAGE TWO FOR GUDELINES

1
NOTE:
IT IS ADVISED NOT TO DROP THE RELEASING DART THROUGH A TIW or
SIMILAIR BALL TYPE WELL CONTROL VALVE AS THE FINS MAY BE SHEARED
OFF AS THE DART PASSES THROUGH.

THE PUMP RATE SHOULD NOT BE SLOWED DOWN AS THE DART NEARS THE
SEAT-THIS WILL HELP TO “HAMMER” THE SHEAR SLEEVE AGAINST THE PINS.

IF THE TOOL IS GOING TO BE SHEARED USING THE RIG PUMPS THE PUMP
LINER PRESSURE RATING SHOULD BE CHECKED .

BEST PRACTICE IS TO HAVE THE CEMENT UNIT TEED INTO THE RUNNING
STRING FOR A QUICK CHANGE OVER IF PRESSURES HIGHER THAN 24 Kpa ARE
REQUIRED TO SHEAR THE DISCONNECT TOOL
