MINUTES of the HOLDFAST BAY RESIDENTS ALLIANCE INC

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND PUBLIC FORUM


Held on WEDNESDAY 12 JUNE 2019 AT 7.00pm

AGM
Meeting opened at 7.05pm

tonight at our Community Meeting after the AGM; Holdfast Bay Councillors Philip
Chabrel, Annette Bradshaw, Mikki Bouchee, Claire Lindop.

Minutes of the Meeting of previous AGM held in February 2018 were read and
confirmed as true and correct. Moved by Raymond Nolan, seconded by David
Bishop.

1. Annual Report by President - presented by Raymond Nolan (Vice


President)
Cr Mikki Bouchee responded to issues in the Presidents Report regarding
presentations made by Jack Messenger via HBRA to Council, advising that
these issues were all heard.
Cr Bouchee advised that Council is about to seek community consultation
regarding many of these issues, eg roads, traffic, and she encouraged all
residents to actively have their say.

2. Financial Report by Treasurer – prepared by Barry Salter


Presented by Elena Dibez
Confirmed as true and correct. Moved by Raymond Nolan, Seconded by
David Bishop.

3. Election of Committee - up to 4 positions vacant


Existing Committee members were elected for two years at the AGM in
2018.
Up to four new positions are now available.
Nominations have been received from Barbara Stopp of Glenelg North and
Ken Daly of Hove.

Nominations for Barbara and Ken were accepted by David Bishop and
Seconded by Raymond Nolan.

The remaining vacancies can be co-opted by the Management Committee to


serve until the next AGM.

4. Any Other Business


Cr Mikki Bouchee raised issues on Planning, Police Stations, seeking more
action from the State Government to be followed up by the Residents
Alliance. David Bishop advised the speakers that HBRA has attended
meetings with the State Residential Organization in relation to planning, with
the Minister Stephan Knoll and the State Planning Commissioner in
attendance.

AGM Meeting closed at 7.29pm.

Public Forum
Speaker - Amanda Wilson, Mayor of City of Holdfast Bay:
Overview of new council
 Budget passed at Council Meeting on 11 June 2019
 Council Rate increase capped at 2.7%
Police Station - Glenelg
 Opening hours should be increased..
 Crime is purported to be increasing in the Glenelg precinct and surrounds.
This is not recorded in police records however Retailers and residents have
expressed this concern and blamed the restricted hours of the police Station
and a lower police presence overall.
Changes to Heritage listed properties under the Planning and Design Code
 Local Government will have less impact/input into retaining heritage properties
Capital Works Projects for the coming years were highlighted.

CEO appointment
 A number of applicants have been interviewed by the Recruitment Agency and
a short list of approximately 7 potential candidates will be put forward shortly
for further discussions.

Many subjects were raised by those present.
