Member Member Member Member

Guests: Mary Owen (MO), Lodge Lane resident Apologies: Kathy Inglis (KI), Jane Wood Preamble to Meeting: JH confirmed that there were sufficient members present to form a quorum, under the rules of the constitution. The meeting, therefore, proceeded to the agenda. The committee expresses its sorrow at the murder of PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes. Welcome new committee members Jo Cooksey was introduced; Jane Wood was unable to attend due to illness. Review of AGM and matters arising, with input from guest, Mary Owen We distributed 3,200 meeting leaflets, 240 The Circle leaflets & 1,500 Home Watch letters. The leaflets produced by New Charter were misprinted and could not be used, DB printed replacement leaflets. For the next time, hopefully the seed fund money will be available and we will purchase our own laser printer for the purpose. The AGM meeting went well; everyone present was satisfied with how it went. The General meeting afterwards was dominated by the circle area. JH felt that he should have taken more control over the subject; one resident was very vocal about his opposition to any development at all. SF stated that he had received negative feed back from residents on Chester Avenue but none attended the meeting to raise their concerns. SF pointed out that the area is a protected green space this limits what can be done. MO was disappointed that the police & New Charter were not available. JH explained that New Charter dropped out at the last moment and the police were unavailable due to shift patterns. She felt that the meeting was a one issue meeting. MO suggested that we ask for written questions to be submitted before the meeting start. JH suggested that there was a time limit on any individual. Page 1 of 4

JW suggested that questions should be submitted at a pre-meeting prior to the next AGM, to give us time to consider them. JH thought this was impractical. MO suggested that each area has its own local representative. MO advised that the problem with pavements on Lodge Lane that she had taken to the District Assembly will be resolved when the road is resurfaced in October; she spoke to Peter Morton the Chief Engineer. JC advised that she used a wooden spoon to push leaflets through the letterboxes to avoid the dog-bite injury that JH sustained. MO asked why we dont attend the District Assembly. SF said that perhaps we should nominate one member to go along on our behalf. JC asked if we had a Facebook page. JC volunteered to assist with this. JH suggested that we should have put more information on the Circle Area and AGM leaflets, for next time we will look at more text and remove the map. AC suggests we have an agenda of issues and spend a fixed time on each issue. JH believes that residents thought that we were suggesting the whole Circle area was to be turned into a play area and not a small part of the overall development as we intended. This was not put across to the members who opposed development. The following people have put forward their names for the working group: SF as Chair, JC, Michelle Fox, Margaret Fitzgerald, Champa Vekoria, Rosie Frith and Clare Kay. SF has still to receive a reply from Persimmons about a meeting. JH has not had a reply from TMBC planning department. Nick Sayers, Town Manager, promised he would assist.
