Statement of Purpose

Conceiving ideas and developing systems that deliver that promise is a personal goal
that I have set for myself. When translated into actions this goal has reinforced my belief in
leadership through creativity. At a very young age, when wave transmission and guided
antennas were words unheard of for me, I wondered about the working of Television and
Radio sets and I can very well say that a mystification at such an insignificant age has led to a
passion for research thirteen years later. That was the harbinger to my introduction to the
fascinating world of technology and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the cutting
edge of the modernized world. And now I am on the threshold of moving on to my MEng in
Electrical and Computer Engineering, funnelled and fuelled by my experiences during the
undergraduate journey.
I am of the opinion that a career involving research will offer the opportunity of
working at the cutting edge of technology, with unparalleled intellectual challenges and
creative satisfaction. I would like to see myself embarking on a mission that would lead to the
design and development of extremely mesmerizing and highly reliable networks of the
contemporary world.
My craving for knowledge started right from my schooling at Little Scholars
School. I had a penchant towards Mathematics and Science in general which led to me score
10 -grade points in mathematics and science at the SSC Board Exam and scored 9.3/10 grade
points overall. This score helped me in getting admission into Sri Chaitanya Junior
Kalasala, India. My passion towards latest technology gadgets and its development have
always made me more enthusiastic towards the study of Electronics. I have always been very
curious to know how things like remote control, washing machine, computer and mobile
phone works which have to lead me to know more about Electronics and to choose it as a
career.
As I have been brought up in a family which has strong inclinations towards science, I
have developed a fascination for science from my childhood. This inclination towards science
was further increased by my active participation in science fair and seminars in my school
days. I had a special interest towards science and appreciated its innovative ideas. My good
academic scores at the school level and my penchant for science rightly guided me to take up
the science stream at the pre-university level from which I drew inspiration to imbibe the true
spirit of engineering. I stood among the top 10% scorers in EAMCET, a state-wide common
entrance test for aspirants seeking admission in engineering courses. This secured my
admission to the undergraduate program in the prestigious institute, J.B. Institute of
Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad, which ranks among the top five engineering
colleges in Telangana, India. Given the choice, I took up Electronics and communication
Engineering as my undergraduate major as it had tremendous potential to becomes a
dominant force in this Millennium affecting all walks of human life. Also, the electronics
revolution ushered in an area that heralded the beginning of an all-round progress.
During my under graduation program at J.B.I.E.T, I was introduced to a whole range
of fields like Communications, Computer Networks, Electric circuits, Signal processing,
VLSI, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems, Image processing,
Electronic devices and circuits. This was in conjunction with the lab courses on Digital
Signal Processing, Analog & Digital IC applications and Microprocessors & Microcontrollers
Furthermore, the work I did during my under graduation in designing & simulating the
Analog and digital integrated circuits using PSpice and Xilinx-vivado software provided me
with a good overview of VLSI design, synthesis, and implementation processes. I also gained
knowledge in other software such as MATLAB, VHDL, MASM and High-level languages
like C and Data Structures. The well thought-out course structure enabled the smooth
transition between theoretical and practical courses. I was spellbound looking at the trail the
field of communications has left behind, in the process of the technological advancement. It
has made efficient real-time communication across the globe a practical possibility. I learned
the various fundamentals of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The interest in
microcontrollers made to me does my internship on “Deaerator level control” at Kothagudem
Thermal power station. And even I engaged myself in the mini-project that involved micro-
controller programming. My Mini project helped me to develop my knowledge on
mechanical aspects such as circuit board design, fabrication, and soldering. The title of my
project was “Gesture Vocalizer for deaf and dumb”. This project helps to reduce the
communication gap between deaf people and hearing people.
I carried out my senior year project titled “Implementation of LFSR based
Toeplitz hash function” under the mentorship of Mrs. Seetha. The objective of the project is
to secure the data by providing the hash value to the input. This type of application can be
used in various sectors such as Banking, wireless communication, military and defence and
even for providing network security. My project received excellent appreciations and was
awarded the Best major project in our department because we have developed a function
which will provide more security when we want to transfer the data.
Working on the projects gave me a good technical knowledge. But the greatest
advantage of involving myself in these activities was that I developed the ability to multi-task
effectively. Besides the college academics, I was actively involved in the extra-curricular
activities. I am a keen observer and learner of every minute thing has made me develop
seriousness, leadership potential and a sense of responsibility. I am the leader in every aspect
and has held the highest position in his department rating for two consecutive years. I can
vouch my energy, exuberance, enthusiasm has made me a vital person in all jobs of my class
as well as fests held at our college. At the same time, I am very responsible for my work and
able to handle the pressure of deadlines very well. My extremely amiable personality made
me popular among my classmates and I always show great consideration and deep respect for
others. Being honest and hardworking, I demonstrated the best of behaviour and excellent
study habits, this made me truly share a special bond with the faculty and my peers.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the outstanding students of our college. I am
quotidian in every college activity. I succeeded in collaborating and leading all branches of
the college to organize the national level technical symposium "INFOQUEST 2K18" after a
five-year abeyance. My puissant and effective orator volubility made me the vital person in
my college organization "TEAM CLIQUE". I am the only person to serve as secretary of my
department, IETE and also IEEE organizations. I lead the IEEE Student chapter as Secretary
for the academic year 2017-18 and IETE student chapter as Secretary for academic years’
2016-17 and 2017-18. I organized Blood donation camps and other social-welfare camps at
various villages around Hyderabad to help needy and poor. I got an opportunity to showcase
my technical knowledge and intellectual ability by participating in “Technical quiz”
organized by the team of INFOQUEST-2K18, in which I secured 3rd position. Presented a
paper on “Sensors” in ATMOS’16, a technical fest organized by Bits-Pilani, Hyderabad
where the plethora of students participated. I represented my college and won “Campus
ambassador” award from BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad during the ATMOS’15, a National
Techno-Management festival.
Considering the fact that I can doggedly devote myself to a problem, coupled with
an ardent desire to learn more in my field, I believe that a Master of Engineering in Electrical
and Computer Engineering, at this stage would be an ideal medium to channel my
aspirations as well as my skills. My decision to apply to Carleton University based on a
careful examination of the state of art departmental facilities and academic benchmarks
achieved. The facts obtained through the departmental website and my seniors pursuing
masters in various universities strengthened my decision to apply to Carleton University. I
see this as the most important step in improving both my technical and soft skills, positioning
me to achieve various leadership positions in this field. Giving an opportunity to participate
in the graduate program of your university, I am confident of contributing substantially to
ongoing research and teaching activities of your university. In all being a comprehensive
university that furnishes an education that will serve me well in my career and prepare me for
a lifetime of learning, I feel that graduate study at Carleton University will be the most
logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives.
I thank you for giving me an opportunity to express about myself.
