11-Constancy

In a certain part of the movie, as Erin comes home to tell her husband about her
day, apologizing for being home late. She notices packed bags near the dining area
while her husband sits and drinks wine, waiting for her. In this part shows the decision
of her husband to file a divorce and go their separate ways. Much to her dismay that
was caused by her inspiration and determination to teach her students, making her
spend more time in school and buy more supplies for her students that doubled her
expenses. Making her take part time jobs to pay of the expenses, much to the
disappointment of her husband. Which made him feel neglected and said that he was
living a life he didn’t agree to.

In a racially divided Los Angeles, where people were segregated by their ethnic
groups due to constant racial tension. That made the city prone to gun shots, stabbinga
dedicated teacher comes along and takes over a class deemed incapable of learning.
But, instead of giving up, she then inspires her students in taking an interest in their
studies and futures. Not knowing, by the growth of attachment to her students, comes
different trials in her life.

The racial tension still exists as of this day, but thankfully mellowed. With people
who support equality has taken a stand for racial segregation and tension to diminish.

Freedom Writers is a movie based on a true story that takes place in Wilson High
School in Long Beach. Wilson high is known to be a upper class white school, but soon
became a diverse school when students were bussed in. Mrs. Erin Gruwell has
experienced this first hand when she was offered a teaching job in Wilson High School
in 1994, she was given the job to look after the at-risk students. Which showed no
interest at all on what she had to say or teach, but that soon changed after she gained
their attention and knew that this would be her new way of teaching and approach
towards her students.

The part where Erin’s husband Scott decides to file a divorce with her was
somewhat too much for me, Scott Casey decided to file a divorce because Erin was
doing her job to look after and educate her students and enter into their lives. To show
them, that there’s more to life than how they’re currently living and that they can
overcome and rise from it. But with this positive outcome from her students, had a
negative impact on her husband. Divorcing your partner for doing his/her work is not
appropriate, he should have been more considerate, understanding and helpful to Erin.
To lessen the stress and exhaustion she’s been feeling, he should have been more
patient with her and support her for doing a great job at work. Understand and
communicate, clearly they both lacked. Matrimony is more than just love. It is one of the
communications of life, it concerns the whole human life, it consists a life of work, worry,
joy, sorrow, teamwork, sickness and in health. Strive for a fair division, just because
Erin is a woman, her job is to only stay home and cook or clean or care for her husband,
and as the same to him. Strive for Equality, help each other out, don’t leave when things
get tough, there’s a reason why you both are going through that problem.
Communication is key, sit down and talk about it.
