Effectiveness and Advantages of College States Degree for Applying Position

Background Study

The concern of the study is to provide relevant idea for the people to know the

importance of having their college states degrees. The promotion nowadays requires a

great deal of education when it comes to promoting new workers in their desire position.

We all know that Filipino citizens strive hard to achieve a higher job satisfaction; the

problem is the workers is not aware of what great opportunities that is waiting for them.

They do not know that when applying promotion or for their desired work, the fields or

course that they studied for must be related to the job, so it important to having a job

base on what you’ve finished in college.

Result of the study therefore will help the graduated students to be aware of the

possibility and opportunities of having a great a great advantage when you have a

college state degree or diplomas. And to know the productiveness and effectiveness

when applying for their desire work or position; and that, it will also serve at their

entrance key to their life’s success.


Statement of the Problem

The study intended to identify and determine the effectiveness and advantages

of college states degree for applying in a position. Specifically, it sought answer to the

following question:

1. What is the main problems and hindrances in having a college degree?

1.1 Financial problem

1.2 Civil status

1.3 Family problem

1.4 Educational attainment

1.5 Age

2. What are the most important things to remember when you’ve received your

college degrees?
Statement of the Hypothesis

College-educated workers is earn more than workers who have only a High

School education. Human capital theory says that education increases the productivity

capacity of individuals. An individual obtaining an education is like a firm investing in

physical capital: current outlays increase future returns.

The benefits of a college diploma are many, including higher pay, lower

unemployment, may be even better health. Yet many high school graduates still do not

pursue a college degree. This article examines several key reasons why more people

aren’t making this investment in themselves.

Definition of Terms

Earning a college degree is such an important step in life, because a college

degree is all about opening up opportunities in life. It prepares you, both intellectually

and socially, for your career and your adult life. The benefits of a college education

include career opportunities in life. It prepares you, both intellectually and socially, for

opportunities like better paying and higher skills jobs, but studies have shown that it

also lead to overall happiness and stability.


Importance of the Study

College degree are much more likely to enjoy a host of lifelong benefits than

individual with college degree. They are more qualified to the employers and acceptable

for wider range of opportunities. For a person who have completed a college degree of

some kind tend to have stronger analytical thinking skills than those who haven’t

demonstrates that you have the persistence and dedication necessary to finish what

you’ve started. Bachelor’s degree is required even for entry level position, so they can

be aware that they can earn more money. College degree graduates are more satisfied

with their jobs and also receive better benefits. They can also have better

communications and skills clearly and effectively. Individuals with strong

communication skills will do better in job interviews; will be a more valuable part of a

professional team.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This study conducts for the people with college state degrees to go beyond their

limitations when it comes to great advantages and opportunities for job and

working positions.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study intended to identify and determine the effectiveness and

advantages of college state degree for applying in a position. Specifically, it

sought answer to the following questions:

1. What are the advantages of Bachelor of Science and Industrial

Education graduates of Technological University of the Philippines in

applying for position?

2. What is the profile of the college graduates in terms of:?

2.1. Work Attitude

2.2. Health Status

2.3. Academic Performances

3. How does the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education graduates

of Technological University of the Philippines increase

employability?
CHAPTER TWO

Conceptual Framework

This chapter presents studies that are drawn from the review of related
literature on the assessment of the graduates in applying for a position. It also
includes the conceptual paradigm and the research hypothesis.

Review of Related Literature

This review of related literature was presented in the work attitude, age,
and monthly income.

Work Attitude

Work attitude which developed as a result of an instructional program


influence the willingness to new knowledge and skills. Attitude are worth of
certain aspects of behavior. It is the goal to which a man tends to do. The
values approach to motivation assume that people will be motivated by
outcomes they value. An attitude is a mental set to respond to a situation with
a prepared reaction which denotes feelings, hopes, and fears. It also
emphasized that attitude towards work is indeed important because it affects
the quality of work performance in any organization. The behavior may be
viewed from inside and outside. Some have pointed out that attitude towards
work which are at the basis of the desired work can be negative or positive.

Monthly Income

Income is money or salary earned for serviced rendered such as that


received by any worker. It may be in the form of bonuses, commissions, given
by the employer. It is an incentive power to many because it represents
achievements and many things. Several studies had considered factor which
had proven to have significant relation with other factors. The needs in salary
is basically an economic factor that falls under physiological need. This
referred to the accumulation of the salary, allowances and other benefits
received by the workers.

Age

Age is a factor that conditions to change because individuals have


different age levels. Hence, age is a determinant in the world of work.
Teachers who are young in the profession are more energetic. They belong to
the new generation where they know and are familiar with the latest trends in
teaching the subject. Those in the age bracket of 35 to 40 years old have a
hard time to finding employment. Employers prefer to hire young, new
graduates or those below 35 years old, probably because of the risk,
accidents, death, and weak physical stamina which is generally associated
with advancing age. There are lot of reason why age affects the performances
of employees in the workplace.

Health Status

In this study, some workers failed due to poor health associated and
larger recovery period needed when injured. If this occurs, then the
relationship between age, and overall equivalent have different reasons. The
younger workers are relying more on their ability and older workers rely more
on their accumulated knowledge and experiences.

Academic Performances

On the positive sides, an old employee has more experience than


employees who are less old and mature. An old age worker brings positive
qualities at work like good and better judgement commitment to quality of
work and lower absences than employees who have less experience.
There is lower turnover result in job satisfaction because old employees have
lower job opportunities of a younger ones that is why they have greater
concentration on work. On negative sides, it is believed that job performance
declines with the increasing age of employees. Older workers are lacking
flexibility and being resistant to new technology.

Background of the Study

CHAPTER THREE
Methodology

This chapter presents the operational framework of the study. It


includes the research design, gathered data, and tools to be used.

Design of the Study

This design is used to determine the precise value and the specific
scale of measurement to get an answer of the research hypothesis. In this
study, a descriptive research design was used which aims to describe the
nature of situations as it exists at the time of the study and to explore the
causes of a particular phenomenon. It also involved the collection of data in
order to test the hypothesis and to provide a scientific answer to the research
questions concerning the status of the subject of this study to find the
significant relations between the factors such as attitude towards work, health
status and academic performances.

Variables and Measure

Source of Data

Being old or mature relative to one’s another can be a matter for


achievement over the long term if children are cracked early on the basis of
kill, which is strongly correlated with age when children are young. At the
same, older school might become relatively motivated for school or be self-
confident because of their relative standing in class. In principle, this can
create an unsustainable “race to the top”.
The major goal is to prepare the individual to become a productive and
successful member of society and to enable him to contribute effectively in
the development of efforts in society.
This is to generate, apply, ad evaluate knowledge about educational
research strategies for knowledge discovery to solve critical educational and
human problems.
Work as an expert and learn to evaluate educational programs, analyze
data, develop assessment instruments and conduct research methodologies.

Instrumentation
Standard deviation was used to interpret and describe the graduate
respondent performance and interest towards work.
Percentage was used to describe graduate’s employability as indicated
by nature of work.
Correlation was used to determine the relationship of personal and
school variables to employability of graduates.

Data Gathering Procedure


The respondents were assured that their answer were held and given
enough time to accomplish questionnaire. It was retrieved from the
respondents after they have finished. The result was checked for
computations.

Treatment of Research and Data


The gathered data from the respondents through the survey
questionnaire and from other sources of data where tallied and put together,
organized and tabulated.
Statistical treatment was applied to the test the hypothesis of the study as
well asked to resolve the stated problems. The data obtain where presented
in tabular forms and where analyzed using statistical measures.

1. The study use the frequency counts the percentage to determine the
profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status, number of
seminars/workshops attended, number of years in profession
educational attainment and the employment record if it was under the
government service, private, or they have own business.

2. The weight mean was used to determine the level of competence of the
respondents in terms of licensure examination for teacher’s rating and
national certificate level as perceived. The attitudes towards the work of
the respondents was the determined as to diligence, thoughtfulness,
optimism, independence, interest, courtesy, and
cooperativeness/cooperation. The employability was measured as to
employed, underemployed, self-employed, and unemployed and the
productive of the respondents in terms of salary, position, and their
benefits.

Person or product moment correlation or grouped data was employed to the


test the relationship of profile variables, level of competence, and attitude of
the respondents the employability and productivity of the graduates.
