I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, 100% of the pupils are expected to achieve 90%
proficiency to:
A. Know how to construct a formula using spreadsheet
B. Follow the steps in adding and subtracting in a spreadsheet
C. Understand and appreciate the importance of adding and subtracting in a
spreadsheet
III. STRATEGY:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Opening prayer, greetings
2. Checking of attendance and/or assignment
3. Drill: Give the Use of Microsoft Excel
4. Review: Label each part of Spreadsheet
3. Word Enrichment:
Spreadsheet – an electronic document in which data is arranged in the
rows and columns of a grid and can be manipulated and used in
calculations.
Adding – to unite or join so as to increase the number, quantity, size, or
importance
Subtracting – the operation of removing objects from a collection.
4. Learning Experiences:
4.1 In this lesson, using a Microsoft Excel . The teacher will be discussing the
adding and subtracting calculation on a spreadsheet.
Using Function and Formulas in Calculating in Numerical Data
- for subtraction
+ for addition - Finds the sum of cell A1 through A20
To construct a formula
a. Always start the formula with an equal sign “=” followed by
“sum” (=sum) or else the Excel will just consider the entry as
text.
b. Start writing the formula in the cell by clicking in that cell.
After entering the formula type “Enter” or “tab” to move to
the next cell.
c. Formulas with numbers will give results that will not change
as, = sum.(120*5) always give an answer of 600.
C. Culminating Activities
1. Generalization
Using Excel can enhance understanding of content within a grahic presentation
of the information; it provides a visual representation of data that makes it easier to
analyze and allows students plotting data.
2. Assessment
Computation
Direction: Type the data below in a Microsoft excel worksheet. Think of a food
and make a list of its ingredients, quantity per ingredients and price per piece.
Use Formula (Addition)
Items Quantity Price Per Piece Total
1.Tomato 23 52
2. Banana 12 22
3.Grapes 18 17
4.Strawberry 3 33
5. Pineapple 12 45
Use Formula (Subtractioin)
Items Quantity Price Per Piece Total
1.Cherry Pie 2 20
2. Chocolate 7 14
3. Cookies 8 16
Key to Correction:
1. 75 1. 18
2. 34 2. 21
3. 35 3. 24
4. 37
5. 57
D. Assignment
Follow-up Assignment
1. On your own, using a Microsoft Excel try to add and subtract
number. Then compute and print your work in a short bond paper.
Add (232) girls (220) Boys
(75) handkerchief (90) Watch
Subtract (66) Bags (4) Shoes
(80) Pants (63)Ballpen
