Peace Essay

In recent news and in certain areas of the world people have committed crimes justifying
them out of hate and fear. For example the Israeli and Palestinian people are in conflict just from
being prejudiced about one another. Luckily there are camps where the people can learn about
one another and get rid of stereotypes and rumors and find the truth how the others really are.
This camp is helping us understand one another and help better move onto the future. That is
why people should try harder to understand each other in order to get rid of hate and fear to learn
about each other, and to increase our understanding of mutual respect for mankind.
To begin with people have learned to “hate and fear” others. (Pearson 25) Although some
places people now learned. “The enemy has a name and face” (Pearson 25). This idea of hating
and fearing is ignorant of the fact that they are similar and that there is no point in fighting each
other. Although some people state that “the picture I had of them was soldiers who wanted to kill
us” they later learned that this wasn’t true and that instead of killing each other “can help bring
about peace.”(Pearson 26) That is why we should quit despising and fearing one another and
begin to band together to make peace and a better world.
Furthermore once we understand each other we can have “a different better kind of life”
(Pearson 27) Yet there will always be people that “have learned to fear people from groups” that
are supposedly different than theirs, when the truth is “that they are more alike than different” we
will be able to move on from wars and instead better society. This means we can begin to “learn
from one another” (Pearson 27) allowing us to “reveal what they truly believe and feel” (Pearson
27) to begin improving everyone’s lives. So we should begin to “look toward the future instead
of the past” (Pearson 26) ways of being ignorant to others.
Additionally we should try to understand others so we can be “more insightful about their
peoples’ problems” (Pearson 27) and be respectful. Yet opponents of respect think they have the
right to treat others badly just because their different. This belief is wrong since respecting one
another is “key to solving the problems between their peoples” (Pearson 27) and “if fighting is to
end each side must learn to respect the other.” (Pearson 27) This means that treating others
wrongly based on differences doesn’t get us anywhere and makes a bigger gap between being at
peace rather than war. That is why we should try to learn about others so we can be more
respectful of them and get closer to peace.
In conclusion treating others wrongly in general is disrespectful and leads us nowhere.
Instead if we tried to understand each other we can begin to move into the future and out of the
past. Also if we quit being mad and afraid of others and truly learned that these people have an
identity we can get closer to begin at peace with this world. Finally if we ignore stereotypes we
will discover that are differences are minimal and that we are truly the same allowing us to carry
on with our lives without hurting others. That is why we should be more aware of others and
look deeper into them rather than being prejudiced or disrespectful to them so we can begin to
move on and improve everybody’s lives.
