"University-wide Open Courses"

Global Education Center offers courses in various fields to all Waseda students regardless of the
school/department they belong to.
Please note that almost all of these courses are conducted in Japanese. As these courses are
designed for average Japanese college students, the same level of Japanese proficiency that they
have is required to take these courses.

Also, you can take university-wide open courses offered by other schools/departments as well.
Although most of the courses are conducted in Japanese, however, Center for International
Education and some schools offer some English courses, on the other hand.

【How to look for University-wide open courses】

②a) To look for University-wide Open courses offered by Global Education Center

Category of the courses you can register for:

・アカデミックライティング科目(Academic Writing courses)


・数学科目(Mathematics courses)
・統計科目(Statistics courses)
・情報科目(Information Education courses)
・英語科目(English courses)
・言語科目(英語以外) (Language (other than English) courses)
・保健体育科目(Health and physical education courses, including various special sports courses)
②b) To look for University-wide Open courses offered by other schools/faculties
・Center for International Education…CIE (Most of the courses are conducted in English.)
・Center for Japanese Language…CJL
*Since CJL Open courses are the ones for teaching Japanese as foreign language, they are
taught in Japanese.
・Other schools…Language used for instruction is depending on the courses.
② Make sure if the course is conducted in Fall 2014

*Spring courses, Summer courses, and year-round courses cannot be registered


⇒ONLY “Fall semester” courses can be registered at Fall course registration.
**Also, please note that the courses conducted overseas, and courses offered by other
colleges / universities cannot be taken by SILS Study Abroad Program students.
