YARD SALE
There were several present at the meeting who participated and several who didn’t. One resident suggested having
one in early fall. There was a discussion about traffic during the yard sale which led to traffic speed and stop signs
in the neighborhood.
BGKY.ORG has lots of good info and Robert encouraged us to utilize it. It has received a state accreditation.
S.N.A.P. GRANT IDEAS FOR UPDATING OUR ENTRANCE
Some of the suggestions for this year’s grant were as follows:
1. Adding sidewalks to Ridgeside Avenue because of the high traffic.
2. Removing the islands on Ridgeside Avenue to make the street wider where it is currently narrow.
3. Overhauling the front islands, including removing many bushes.
Motion made by Benny Stofer to apply for a SNAP grant 1) to improve the landscaping on all 6 islands near the
entrance not to exceed $12,000 and 2) to have a neighborhood-wide ice cream social. Seconded by Robert
Ramsey.
MISCELLANEOUS
Greg Meredith (BG Public Works Director) commented on the sidewalks. He said the city budgets half a million
dollars for new sidewalks per year. The easement is 8’-10’. The cost is $55-$75 per sq. yard for sidewalks. Greg
said that he would put us on the list to be evaluated for sidewalks.
Regarding the removal of islands on Ridgeside Avenue, a motion made by Dale Jakel to consider to ask the city to
take out the islands. It was seconded by Ken Thornton and the motion passed unanimously.
Crepe Myrtles were suggested to add color and beauty on the entrance islands.
Dale Jakel brought up the drivers who exceed the speed limit on Ridgeside Avenue and suggested getting the
police department setting up cameras to get the license plate numbers of the cars.
ADJOURN
Ken Thornton made a motion to adjourn. Greg Meredith seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
