Doncaster Fair Play Pool League – Meeting Tuesday 16th July 2019 @ Corporation Taps.

Present: Maxine Holland, Dos White & a representative of all teams with the exception of
the following:- The Plough & Flying Childers

Meeting opened at 19:30 chaired by Dos, notes taken by Maxine

 12 teams this season, welcome new members Palfreys Lodge, Flying Childers & The Plough
 Money prizes at the end of the season as opposed to trophies

 Mick Cartwight Cup – player selections to be made as you go along. Following the toss of the
coin to determine team to choose first, the first player then nominates & player from the
opposing team to play against. Choice then falls to the opposite team to choose who plays
2nd & they choose their opponent at the table & so on……..

 Flying Childers – may struggle to get a team together for first game ………… Sam who is the
Manager there has made it clear that she will be sorting subs etc & not Noel.

 Dos will have all the trophies ready to give out next week

 Fixtures & rules of play to be printed off and made visible in each establishment

 Winning team captain (or nominated person) to send completed cards in by no later than 12
noon the next day following play

 Cancellation of fixtures – this is down to the 2 team captains to sort between themselves but
be mindful & courteous to give generous notice

 Singles & doubles competition – Simon R will do the draws, Dos to collect subs & hand over
to Simon. It was agreed that 1 calendar month was more than enough time to complete
play with players sorting this between themselves.

 FINAL – unanimously decided that the 2 teams reaching the final choose between the 2
respective captains which venue they would like this to be played at. Please remember to
organise food and an unbiased referee

 Presentation 2020 – Hawthorne Club have voiced that they would be happy to
accommodate this next year as have the Palfreys Lodge and Pit Club. All 3 venues have the
capacity but only fare to ask each one to quote expenses for this.

 Teams dropping out – decided that a transfer window up to half way through the season be
set for those players whose team folds once season has started. As there are 34 weeks in
the season this means that the transfer window will close on 25th November 2019.
 Players being aggressive/abusive during any game play will be served warnings before then
being ‘struck out’ of any further play. 2 x yellow cards and then a red for a third offence will
result in no longer being eligible to play in the league. Please brief any spectators or non-
playing locals when you have match nights so that they can behave respectfully during play.
It’s great to have banter, at the end of the day it’s a pub game played in a friendly league,
don’t want this spoiling unnecessarily.

 A maximum of 15 players to be registered at any one time. Names can only change if a
player drops out.

 Any future meetings need to have an agenda beforehand and they will only be open to team
captains (or substitute if captain unavailable), this has proved effective as it stops people
talking across each other. Individual teams can have their own ‘in house’ meeting to bring
any points to a league meeting via their captain

 Treasurer to provide a financial breakdown

 Cancellation of presentation 2018/19. Miscommunication between the organisers and Gary

from the Hawthorne Club has resulted in there being no presentation evening like previous
years and the Hawthorne having to stump up a £50 cancellation fee to the Entertainment
body for lack of notice. The Hawthorne have asked for recompense which Dos said he
would pay out of his own pocket. This was deemed very unfair by all at the meeting, so all
agreed that a donation of £5 from each team be made from the first week fund raising to
pay for this.

Meeting closed at 20:30
