Design of MVR Vertical Roller Mill
The PFEIFFER MVR Mill – Essential Features

Modular roller system and MultiDrive® Double Active redundancy

Up to 6 grinding rollers and 6 drive modules: The mill operation continues with slightly
reduced capacity even if one roller and / or one drive module is under maintenance.

Hydraulic system for operation and maintenance

For maintenance purposes no extra component is required to swing
the rollers out of the mill – plus: easy access to hydraulic cylinders.

Parallel grinding gap

The geometry of the grinding elements in combination with our MVR mill’s
suspension system ensures a parallel grinding gap in any operating point.

Modular drive design – the Pfeiffer MultiDrive®

Up to 12 000 kW drive power with only 3 different types of drive modules.
A MultiDrive® can be equipped with up to 6 identical drive modules
around the generously designed central table support.

Symmetric wear parts

The roller system with standard modules and symmetric tyres
provides the possibility to turn the roller tyres for extended lifetime.
Space saving twin support
Innovative design of the twin supports for two roller
modules provides good access for maintenance work and
plenty of space for the installation of a large table support.
PFEIFFER MVR Mill: Modular Roller Design

Identical parts possible for

raw mills and cement mills
reduced spare parts stock
Double Active Redundancy = Highest Availability

Up to 6 grinding rollers and

up to 6 MultiDrive® modules:

The mill operation continues with

nearly full capacity even if one of
the rollers and/or one of the drive
modules is under maintenance.
Only one Hydraulic System for
Operation AND for Maintenance

For maintenance purposes no

installation of an extra hydraulic
cylinder is required to swing the
roller out of the mill.

Hydraulic cylinders are located

beside the roller twin-supports

easy access for

maintenance
Innovative Roller Suspension and Supports

Grinding gap in parallel

• Guided motion of rollers – smooth run

• Grinding gap always in parallel
• Positive effects on power transmission
• Tensioning cylinder swings out roller for service
MVR Mill with Pfeiffer MultiDrive®
The Proven Modular Drive Design

The Pfeiffer MultiDrive® with up to

six identical drive modules has been
developed in cooperation with
Siemens-Flender – tailor-made
especially for the Pfeiffer MVR mill.

It provides up to 12,000 kW drive

power with only three different types
of standard drive modules combined
with a large central table support for
the handling of axial and radial forces
from the grinding process.

Only the Pfeiffer MVR mill with

MultiDrive® provides the highest
possible availability due to active
redundancy and flexibility of drive
and roller arrangement.
