 2. Introduction
Jai Bharat Kandsari Sugar Mill is situated in Rajeshwar Village, Basvakalyan
Taluk, Bidar Dist.(Karnataka) on NH-9 Hyderabad-PUNE Highway ( 160 Kms
from Hyderabad and 120 Kms from Sholapur). The factory has 54 Acres
Non-Agriculture Land, out of which Plant & Machinery, administrative
building etc. are accommodated in 15 Acres surrounded by compound wall
of 10’ height. The remaining is open land.

The Unit is a Partnership Firm. The promoter’s family has a proven track
record of financial and operational performance. This is the first factory
which had produced White Sugar in Bidar Dist.in the year 1967 (prior to any
of the existing Co-operative Sugar Mills). The Unit is strategically located in
sugarcane grown area. The firm is in existence in the area for more than 45
years and enjoys a very sound reputation among sugarcane cultivators of the
area.

 3. Proposed Project
Jaggery is sugarcane based natural sweetener made by the concentration of
sugarcane juice without any use of chemicals. It is available in the form of solid
blocks and in semi-liquid form.

It contains the natural sources of minerals and vitamins inherently present in

sugarcane juice and it is one of the most wholesome and healthy sugars in the
world.

The micro nutrients present in the jaggery possess antitoxic and anti-
carcinogenic properties.

In India, of the 300 Mt of sugarcane produced, 53% is processed into white

sugar, 36% into jaggery and khandsari, 3% for chewing as cane juice and 8% as
seed cane.

Of the total world production, more than 70% of the jaggery is produced in
India.

The development of different value added products from jaggery and their
commercial availability becomes need of the hour to sustain future profitability
in the jaggery trade.

Present Proposal

It is proposed to initially manufacture organic jaggery from 500 MT per day

sugarcane crushing.

Assuming a recovery of 14%, the expected daily production of jaggery solid

cones would be 70 MT.

The other forms of jaggery viz., jaggery powder, jaggery liquid etc. would be
planned in the future.

 6. Raw Materials
The sugarcane is transported from the fields to the factory either by Bullock
Carts/Tractors/Lorries. A total estimated quantity of about 70,000 MTs
available. This is expected within the radius of about 20-30 Kms radius from the
factory. The break-up of the above expected cane is as under:

1. About 170 tones of cane per day is supplied by the local growers by about
100 bullock-carts within the radius of 2-3 Kms. A quantity of about 20,000
tones of cane is expected in 4 months season.
2. About 120 MTs per day from own harvesting & transport through 6
Agents totaling to 15,000 MTs for the season.
3. About 300 MTs per day through 20 Cutting Labour Gangs with Trucks
totaling to about 35,000 MTs for the season.

Sugarcane Quality

After lab analysis the finally established variety of 86032 which is

predominantly grown in this region, is found suitable for jaggery. The
average results of this variety obtained in 2015-16 are as under:

 7. Utilities
Power

The total power requirement for the sugar manufacturing unit is supplied
from Turbo Alternator set of 750 KW capacity of ABB Alstom make (Presently
SIEMENS) with JYOYHI make Alternator complete with control panel board
and power board with cabling. The firm also has a connected load of 600 KVA
power from KPTCL.

DG Set
ONE No. Kirloskar Cummins make 163.5 and 2 Nos Kirloskar 63.5 sets.

Water
The present requirement of water is 2000 LPD. The water requirement for
the plant is being met out of the two bore wells and two open wells.

 8. Manpower
There is abundance of skilled and unskilled labour available in and around the
Unit. The majority of the unskilled labour are contractual are employed during
the season. However, for overhauling works during the off-season and for
operations during the season the skilled contractors are employed for the
period of 7 months or till the end of the season. The section-wise details are
as under:

 10. Marketing
The demand for jaggery is steadily growing many folds in the urban, rural
and semi-urban areas. There are several applications of jaggery and almost
all Indian households use it on day-to-day basis.

Market for jaggery is round the year whereas its production is only during
the sugarcane season and thus factory works for around 6 to 7 months every
year. Apart from individual households, it is used in large quantities in
restaurants, road-side dhabas, other eateries, hostels and clubs and by
caterers. It has shelf-life of more than couple of months.

In view of constantly growing market, it should not be difficult for a new

entrant to enter and capture the market.
