LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS


GRADE VI

I. Learning Objectives
Cognitive: Find the percentage when the rate and base are given
Psychomotor: Write the data for rate and base using Techan’s triangle
Affective: Strive for one’s best

II. Learning Content


Skill: Finding the percentage when the rate and base are given
Reference: BEC PELC II L 3.2.1 and 3.1
Materials: Powerpoint presentation, flashcards, picture of mall, stalls, manipulative
counters, Techan’s triangle, drill board, activity sheets
Value: Being thrifty and striving for one’s best and perseverance

III. Learning Experiences


A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill: Relay – Changing percent to ratio, decimal to percent, fraction to percent, and vice
versa.
a. Have four lines of pupils with the same number of members.
b. Each pupil in front of the line renames the ratio to percent, decimal to percent,
fraction to percent, or vice versa by writing the number on the board as the teacher
flashes the card.
c. The teacher fastens the card on the board in the columns it belongs.
d. As soon as the first player finished writing, he has to touch the next player and do
the same thing.
e. The teacher flashes the next card and repeat letter b-d.
f. The teacher checks the answers and adds the scores after the last player.

2. Review: Use of drill board


Tell whether the underlined number is rate, base or percentage
1. 6 is 25% of 24
2. 20% of 15 is 3
3. 125% of 60 is 75
4. 30 is 50% of 60
5. 60 is 20% of 300
3. Motivation:
Picture of Mall
-Are you familiar with the pictures? What are they?
-Who among you love to go to mall?
-What are the things that you can see in the mall?

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
 Use of Realia
a. Show stalls in the mall wherein products have less or discount.
b. Teacher will ask:
-What are the products that you can see from the stalls?
-What is the difference between the two sets of stalls?
-If you’re going to buy a product, from which stall will you go? Why?
-If you’re going to buy this one (product with discount), how much will you pay?
(Teacher will show money and count together with the pupils)
-How did you get the answer?
-Write the equation on the board.

 Use of Compatible Number through Manipulatives (Counters)


a. Pablo listens very well to the teacher during the discussion of the lesson. When
they were given a five item test, his grade was 80%. How many correct answers did
Pablo get?

1. Who listens very well to the teacher?


2. How many items was their test?
3. What was his grade in the test?
4. If you were Pablo will you also be listening intently to the teacher? Why?
5. Do you think you can get a higher grade than Pablo? How will you do it?
b. Pupils will be grouped into 4. Each group will get their manipulatives of five with
same sizes then answer the following questions.
1. What are the given data? ( Lead the pupils to write the given data inside the
Techan’s triangle)
2.What is the equation for the problem?

C. Application
Working by Station

 There will be 4 stations with activities written. Each group will answer the problem in
the station then will go to another station after the signal given by the teacher.
 After doing the activity, each group will then present their work to the whole class.
