REACTION PAPER

After watching “PARAISONG SALAT” a documentary presented by Kara David, I have

learned a lot of things. The documentary was interesting because, it covers the life and
struggles of a family living on the island. It gives a little information about the island,it
showcased the daily routine that the siblings go through everyday from crossing the
seas and walked too far just to go to school and go back to school.Their only primary
of source of livelihood from seaweed cultivation to fishing unfortunately, due to the
climate change, so called as el ni`no ,the harsh weather conditions made it difficult for
them to earn a livelihood. What would be their situation if they’re not going to leave the
island and still chooses to stay?

First of all, if they’re not going to leave in the island they’ll be experiencing diificult
situation because they are far from the main source of everything they need to live
enough, the children won’t be able to finish their studies because of the poverty. I was
amazed and at the same time felt bad for the family, especially for Sarfaina.
Confronting the difficulties of everyday living on the island, where there is no water, no
electricity, not a school for a children or health center for the infirmed. It made realize
that most of the youths nowadays are very lucky because they can’t experience those
difficulties. Comparing to their supply of food is barely not enough to all of them
because , they have huge family members unlike us that can afford excessive
foods.Their situation was too hard to handle, so I salute them for being able to survive
that kind of situation, and even though their situation’s like that ,the kids are eager to
learn, eager to explore, eager to reach their dreams. I pity them because it is so
unfair, their life is too miserable, they need enough support, they need help. Im
shocked because I realize they are still people whose living in an area where there are
no supplies. It’s do hard to be in their shoes. So I salute them for being so brave, I
salute them for still continuing their lives despite of the horrible situation they got

Concluding the documentary that I have watched is a brief story of a family’s dilemma.
They have many uncountable things to do in every single day such as where to get a
source of income to buy things they need in everyday living. Even though the family
have difficulties they are still united. Still, they are not giving up no matter what the
situation will come up. Standing things on their own is one of the good things I have
discovered to them though, it’s not easy for them because of poverty. Knowingly that
they’re lack of food, they might turn into starvation. Their living is full of sadness and
empathy but at the same time they still have the ability to knock down their problems
and face another good day for them and do the things consistently.
