Fusion 360 tutorial


Before using these instructions, it is helpful to watch the video screencast of the CAD drawing actually
being done in the software. Click this link for the video instructions

1) Left click on ‘Sketch’ then


click ‘Rectangle’ then click on
‘2 Point Rectangle’ to select it.

2) Now select the XY plane


to work on – click this one
and the screen cube will
go to TOP VIEW

3) Click on the origin to


start your rectangle size
60mm x 30mm

4) When the measurement


box is blue, you can type
the size in, then press Tab
on the keyboard to move to
the next measurement box.

When the measurements


are correct, press Enter on
your keyboard TWICE to
finish.
5) Your rectangle will
look like this.

6) Select SKETCH Fillet.

Click on a side, then the


adjacent side and the fillet curve
will appear – make the radius 6.

7) After entering radius 6 for the 1st corner, move on to do the same on
each of the other corners. Then click Stop Sketch in top right of screen.

8) Select CREATE Extrude, click on the


rectangle and the Extrude dialogue box
appears. Either pull up the arrow to a height of
2mm or type 2 in this box or the Distance box on
the dialogue box.
Click OK to finish.

9) Select SKETCH Offset and click on
your shape – the offset curve appears.
Type -1.5 in the box here or in the
dialogue box to offset 1.5mm inside the
edge of the object. Click OK to finish.

10) Click on CREATE


Extrude or you can use
the keyboard shortcut
and just press E to
select Extrude.

11) Click on the offset edge and extrude to a height of 1.5mm.


Check the operation is on Join. Then click OK to finish

12) Your drawing should look like this.

13) Select SKETCH 2-Point
Circle.
Click on the face of the shape
to select it.

14) Start the first point/edge


of your circle about 1½ small
squares from the edge

15) Click to start the circle, make the diameter 4mm, press
Enter to lock the value, then Stop Sketch.

16) Click on CREATE Extrude or


you can use the keyboard
shortcut and just press E to
select Extrude.

17) Click on the circle to select it. Check that in


the dialogue box ‘Operation’ is on Cut. Then use
the arrow to pull down through the object to make
a hole. Click OK to finish.

18) Select MODIFY Fillet or use
the keyboard shortcut F.

Click on the edge of the hole to


select it and the Fillet tool
appears.

Use the arrow to increase the


fillet radius to 1mm or just enter
1mm in the box.

Click OK to finish.

19) Select SKETCH


Text tool and click
on the face of the
keyring to select it.

20) The Text dialogue box


appears. Type in your
lettering, and change font
and size if required.

Use the handle to spin text


round and the centre handle
to move it to the correct
position.

When you are happy with it


click OK.

21) Click on CREATE Extrude
or just press E on the
keyboard to select Extrude.

Click on your text sketch to


select it.

Type in Distance of 1.5mm


and click OK.

Your finished drawing should


look like this.
