Frank brown was born on May

15,1856 in Chittenango, New York, USA. He was died on May 6,1919 in Hollywood, California
USA. He was an american author, actor, salesman and independent film maker. He married
Maud Gage and they have a four children. He achieved commercial success with his first book
“Father Goose(1899)” and followed it the next year with the even more popular “The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz” that later on called it “The Wizard of Oz”. He wrote 13 sequels of Oz book and
continued by Ruth Plumly after his death.
L. Frank Baum wrote it to dedicate the to his good friend and to his wife, “Maud Gage Baum”.
He started writing story for his four sons, he wrote about his intentions in the book the wonderful
wizard of oz was written solely to pleasure children today. He wrote this to aspires to being a
modernized fairy tales, in which the wonderment and joy are retained and the heart-ached and
nightmaresare left out.

•Kansas City is the main setting of this story wherein dorothy, toto and her aunt em and uncle
henry lives. A place that dorothy eager’s to come back home.Kansas is a dry and grayish place
where cyclone appears everytime.
•City of Emerald is also the main setting wherein the palace of great oz can found and where
precious jewelries can see around the city. House fences are all painted with green, people who
lives there is wearing a green color also their body, they have a hat like the munchkins. City of
Emerald is a portal street that has a big gate before entering it, with full of emeralds shining
brightly in sun and it has a high-arched rooms inside the city. Inside the city the Throne room of
Oz can see it is a full green marble made and shaped like a chair with a sparkled gems attached
to it.
•Land of Munchkins a beautiful country that’s full of fruit-bearing trees, full of lovely flowers
and green grasses surrounded in the land.Also where dorothy and her dog toto pass their night
and eat together before continuing the journey to the Emerald City. In this place dorothy meets
the generous wicked witch of north that helped her to her journey.
•Forest wherein dorothy, her dog toto, and her friends tin woodman and cowardly lion rested for
night under a large trees in the forest. Forest is also a dark and gloomy broad river.
•Poppies Field is a place that surrounded with the deadly flowers that has a bad odor that can
make you sleep forever.
•Country of Winkies where the wicked witch of west can found and also where other winkies
lives that the wicked witch made them her slave for all time.
•Yellow Castle is located inside the country of winkies that dorothy and her friends stayed to take
rest after dorothy defeated the wicked witch of west.

Main Characters:
Dorothy Galeis one of the antagonist of this novel, dorothy is a small young girl and meek that
lives with her aunt em and uncle henry together with her lovely dog toto. She’s an energetic,
caring, sweet and brave despite of what obstacles just fight for it to achieved on what you are
aiming for.
Scarecrowa resourceful friend of dorothy that is a stuffed with straw a with an eye color of blue
and asking for a brain to be a useful scarecrow in the corn field. He was rescued by dorothy from
his boring life and come along together to see the great oz. Scarecrow is also one of the
antagonist of the story that believed that he will have a brain when he will meet the great oz.
Tin woodmana antagonist which helped dorothy to go back in kansas however he is a
motionless creature that badly needs a heart, he was born as a wood but because he loves cutting
woods he accidentally cut his own body, that’s why he got to replace his wound into a tin and
because of that his heart lost and already forget how to love the munchkins which he loves the
most.
Cowardly Lionalso a antagonist of the story that wishing for a courage, because his life is
simply unbearable without a bit courage. He’s supposed to be the king of the forest but he’s
ashamed with everyone, he tried to proved his self in many situations but at the end he will lose
his determination to prove his self. But because of willingness he succeed and later on became
the king of the forest and giving a rule over all of the animals.
