Wacky Weave CAL: Square 1

Information
Stitch pattern designed by Tanis Galik, and adapted by Hilda Steyn.
Pattern written in US terminology.

Foundation
With Colour A and a 4mm hook, ch43.
• Change to a 3.5mm hook.
• Start in 5th ch from the hook:
(dc1, ch1, sk1) x19 times, dc1 in the last ch

With Colour B and a 4mm hook, ch41.


• Do a weave through the Colour A trellis, starting from the BACK.
• Change to a 3.5mm hook.
• Start in the 5th ch from the hook, in the 2nd A window:
(dcif, ch1, sk1, dcib, ch1, sk1) x9 times, dcif
• Turn the entire piece around.

Stitch Pattern
After you have turned, drop colour B to the FRONT of your work.
Row 1A: ch3, (dcib, ch1) x19 times, dc in the last window
Row 1B: ch3, (dcib, ch1, dcif, ch1) x9 times, dcib
Turn the entire piece around.

After you have turned, drop colour B to the BACK of your work.
Row 2A: ch3, (dcif, ch1) x19 times, dc in the last window
Row 2B: ch3, (dcif, ch1, dcib, ch1) x9 times, dcif
Turn the entire piece around.

Repeat rows 1A – 2B another 8x times more, and end off colour B.


Repeat row 1A once more – do not end off.
You should have 20 colour A rows.

Border
With Colour A, ch1, then do an border of hdc across both edges of colour A and colour B.
Each window of colour A, gets 2 hdc, one on either side of the colour B pillar.
In each corner, do 5 hdc over both A and B edges.
Do an invisible join and weave in any tails.
