Hello Nitish,

Vivek Sir, Guru of myGurukul shared a simple step by step approach which

will help you master the instrument. As per his method every person

requires minimum 90 minutes of daily practice to really see good progress

in learning.

Follow the schedule, consistently.

This is how you should divide your time for practice.

1) Long notes - 10 mins

2) Sa to Sa Scale -15 mins (Beginner level)

Pa to Pa Scale for 15 mins (Beginner level 2) 

Advance level users can attempt Pa to Pa with Komal swaras (be

careful about finger positions)

3) All alankaras Practice twice - 20 mins

Beginner level 2 user should practice all alankara of beginner module

from Pa to Pa

4) Pa to Pa with Gamak (Intermediate level) - 10 mins

5) Choose any 1 alankar - 15 mins

Practice it in Meend, Gamak and Strokes in vilambit, madhya and drut

laya

6) Revise all compositions - 30 mins with Tabla

(remember compositions, you should not looking at the notations)

7) Those who have got Meend Gamak module, can practice all

composition in Meend Gamak separately after revising.

8) Advance level learners can take a Raga and follow above pattern

and practice the phrases of each raga in Gamak.

whenever you are practicing alankaras try to practice more cycles of

Aroha and Avaroha in one single breath. Do not just follow the speed,

cycles of aroha & avaroha should increase in every breath as you

practice more.

Go Step by Step. Master one video at a time.

Simple rules of playing well.

1) Consistency is the most important factor in learning flute.

2) Get a professional flute if you do not have one.

3) Sit down on the floor and practice, do not sit on sofa or chair unless

you have leg problem

4) Always play with Tanpura

5) Any thing else like song etc should be practiced after completing

the daily practice.
