Job Description : The role is for an Associate in the Intellectual Property
(IP) – Engineering Division of the firm. The role requires a high level of technical, analytical, reasoning and writing skills with excellent eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have an innate curiosity for understanding how technology operates in various domains with particular expertise in at least one domain. The candidate will have to learn legal concepts related to IP and will have to apply his technical skills in the legal domain. The job functions include: • Understanding or grasping the technological concepts / key features of inventions. • Conducting patent prior art searches including prior art analysis in the relevant patent and non patent databases to establish the novelty of the invention. • Drafting patent specifications in various disciplines of science / engineering/technology. • Developing arguments with convincing reasons for establishing patentability of the invention. • Assisting senior team members in research work including case-laws research, business research, and technical research. • Assisting with procedural aspects of filing patent application and patent prosecution.
Excellent English communication skills, particularly
written communication skills, is a must. Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills are required. Candidates should be comfortable with working independently on MS Office applications (such as Word and Excel), based on in-house templates.
