According to the book Mosby’s Essential Sciences for Therapeutic Massage (Sandy Fritz, 2013), blood is

distributed upon the body due to the contraction and relaxation of the heart. It stated that the pulse is a
direct reflection of the heart rate and on the head of a human being there is a pulse-taking artery which
is located in the superior and anterior to the, it is the superficial temporal artery. (Mosby’s Essential
Sciences for Therapeutic Massag, page 573, Sandy Fritz)

According to the book, the heart rate is measured by finding the pulse of the body. It says that the pulse
rate can be measured in any point of the body where the pulsation of the artery can be felt by placing
fingers on top of it. It also stated that a possible point for measuring the heart rate is in the temple
where the superficial temporal artery is located. (Bleep Test Training Program: A Progressive Training
Program To Improve Your Bleep Test Score, by Personal Fitness Tests, 2011, page 15)

The book states that there are many pulse points on the body where you can feel the arterial pulse and
get the heart rate of an individual. One of the said pulse point is the temporal pulse where the area of
palpation is located over the temple or in front of ear on superficial temporal artery. (Essentials of
