1 PURPOSE: This Procedure is intended to provide guidance and instructions for carrying out
the safe Lineup and Operation of 400kv Switchyard .
5 RESPONSIBILITY:
5.1 Primary Responsibility: Field operator, Desk engineer in NCB.
6 PROCEDURE:-
6.1 IMS
6.1.1. LINE 1 CHARGING THROUGH MAIN BREAKER
6.1.1.1. Ensure all the maintenance personals are in out of the system.
6.1.1.2. Remove the earth rod in all three phases and it must take away from yard, also taken
away all the testing equipment and tools in switchyard
6.1.1.3. Check and confirm the work permit was closed

6.1.1.4. Getting clearance from _____ electrical, Operation SI, Remote end (EB END,
___________ control room), LDC.
6.1.1.5. Normalize the AC/DC power supply.
6.1.1.6. Check all the relays are in healthy condition. Check SF6 GAS pressure is under
operating level.
6.1.1.7. Getting charging code from LDC & CPCC (LDC- lines, Transformer, Reactor), CPCC (for
LINES only).
6.1.1.8. Exchange the code from PGCIL ___________ & EB END, _____ electrical, and
Operation SI. Also confirm the code.
6.1.1.9. Switch ON the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.1.10. Open the corresponding EARTH Switch in LOCAL mode. Except LINE EARTH switch.
(02GS042, 02GS032, 02GS034, FES 2).
6.1.1.11. CHECK the EARTH switch is in closed condition. (Weather the Working area should be
isolated).(01GS034, 02GS024, 03GS034)
6.1.1.12. Log in to SCADA. And enter the “operator” mode.
6.1.1.13. Open the following isolator. (Weather the Working area should be isolated).
(01GS033, 02GS023, 03GS033).
6.1.1.14. Close the corresponding isolator except Line Isolator.
(02GS033, 02GS031).
6.1.1.15. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for opening our line EARTH SWITCH.
6.1.1.16. If clearances are available then open our LINE ES (02GS043).
6.1.1.17. Ensure remote end line earth switch are open condition
6.1.1.18. Once again confirm both the line ES are open condition Must.
6.1.1.19. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for Closing our line DISCONNECTOR
SWITCH 02GS041,.
6.1.1.20. If clearances are available then CLOSE our DISCONNECTOR SWITCH.
6.1.1.21. Ensure remote end line DS are in closed condition.
6.1.1.22. Follow STEP 23 to 26 or STEP 27 to 30
6.1.1.23. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close our LINE BREAKER 02GS030.
6.1.1.24. Inform to Remote end.
6.1.1.25. Then they are closing their end breaker after that check the power flow in our
SCADA.
6.1.1.26. After that follow the STEP no 32
6.1.1.27. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close THEIR end LINE BREAKER on
remote end.

6.1.2.16. Open the following isolator. (Weather the Working area should be isolated).
(02GS031, 01GS011, 03GS011, 02GS003).
6.1.2.17. Close the corresponding isolator except Line Isolator.(02GS023, 02GS021, 02GS013,
02GS011).
6.1.2.18. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for Closing our line DISCONNECTOR
SWITCH 02GS041,.
6.1.2.19. If clearances are available then CLOSE our DISCONNECTOR SWITCH.
6.1.2.20. Ensure remote end line DS are in closed condition.
6.1.2.21. Close our breaker 02GS010.
6.1.2.22. Follow STEP 24 to 27 or STEP 28 to 31
6.1.2.23. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close our LINE BREAKER 02GS020.
6.1.2.24. Inform to Remote end.
6.1.2.25. Then they are closing their end breaker after that check the power flow in our
SCADA.
6.1.2.26. After that follow the STEP no 32
6.1.2.27. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close THEIR end LINE BREAKER on
remote end.
6.1.2.28. Check the line voltage In Our SCADA.
6.1.2.29. Close OUR end Breaker 02GS020 and Check the power flow.
6.1.2.30. After that follow the STEP no 32
6.1.2.31. Logout in SCADA
6.1.2.32. Switch OFF the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.2.33. Inform to Remote end, ___________ PGCIL, _____, LDC.
6.1.2.34. Keep area clean around the GIS
6.1.2.35. As there is noise during operation, hence safety PPE like earmuff should be worn
6.1.2.36. While power isolation and Normalization For safety use Electrical gloves
6.1.2.37. In case of Electrical shock report to control room and Arrange for first aid as required.
6.1.2.38. Make sure proper isolation has been done for maintenance of equipment

6.1.3.12. Log in to SCADA. And enter the “operator” mode.
6.1.3.13. Open the following isolator. (Weather the Working area should be isolated).
(01GS033, 02GS033, 03GS023).
6.1.3.14. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for opening our line EARTH SWITCH
6.1.3.15. If clearances are available then open our LINE ES (03GS043)
6.1.3.16. Ensure remote end line earth switch are open condition
6.1.3.17. Close the corresponding isolator except Line Isolator.
(03GS033, 03GS031).
6.1.3.18. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for opening our line EARTH SWITCH.
6.1.3.19. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for Closing our line DISCONNECTOR
SWITCH 03GS041,.
6.1.3.20. If clearances are available then CLOSE our DISCONNECTOR SWITCH.
6.1.3.21. Ensure remote end line DS are in closed condition.
6.1.3.22. Follow STEP 23 to 26 or STEP 27 to 30
6.1.3.23. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close our LINE BREAKER 03GS030.
6.1.3.24. Inform to Remote end.
6.1.3.25. Then they are closing their end breaker after that check the power flow in our
SCADA.
6.1.3.26. After that follow the STEP no 32
6.1.3.27. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close THEIR end LINE BREAKER on
remote end.

6.1.4.16. Open the following isolator. (Weather the Working area should be isolated).
(03GS031, 01GS011, 02GS011, 03GS003).
6.1.4.17. Close the corresponding isolator except Line Isolator.(03GS023, 03GS021, 03GS013,
03GS011).
6.1.4.18. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for Closing our line DISCONNECTOR
SWITCH 03GS041,.
6.1.4.19. If clearances are available then CLOSE our DISCONNECTOR SWITCH.
6.1.4.20. Ensure remote end line DS are in closed condition.
6.1.4.21. Close our breaker 03GS010.
6.1.4.22. Follow STEP 24 to 27 or STEP 28 to 31
6.1.4.23. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close our LINE BREAKER 03GS020.
6.1.4.24. Inform to Remote end.
6.1.4.25. Then they are closing their end breaker after that check the power flow in our
SCADA.
6.1.4.26. After that follow the STEP no 32
6.1.4.27. Communicate to remote end and parallely to close THEIR end LINE BREAKER on
remote end.
6.1.4.28. Check the line voltage In Our SCADA.
6.1.4.29. Close OUR end Breaker 03GS020 and Check the power flow.
6.1.4.30. After that follow the STEP no 32
6.1.4.31. Logout in SCADA
6.1.4.32. Switch OFF the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.4.33. Inform to Remote end, ___________ PGCIL, _____, LDC.
6.1.4.34. Keep area clean around the GIS
6.1.4.35. As there is noise during operation, hence safety PPE like earmuff should be worn

6.1.4.37. In case of Electrical shock report to control room and Arrange for first aid as required.

6.1.5.3. Getting discharging code from both LDC & CPCC (LDC- lines, Transformer, Reactor),
CPCC (for LINES only).
6.1.5.4. Exchange the code from PGCIL ___________ & EB END, _____ electrical, and
Operation SI. Also confirm the code.
6.1.5.5. Log in to SCADA. And enter the “operator” mode.
6.1.5.6. Switch on the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.5.7. Follow STEP 8 to 10 or STEP 11 to 13
6.1.5.8. Communicate to remote end and parallel to OPEN our LINE BREAKER (02GS030,
02GS020).
6.1.5.9. Inform to Remote end.
6.1.5.10. Then they are OPENING their end breaker after that check the power flow in our
SCADA. Ensure there is no power flow.
6.1.5.11. Communicate to remote end and parallel to OPEN THEIR end LINE BREAKER on
remote end.
6.1.5.12. OPEN OUR end LINE Breaker (02GS030, 02GS020). and Check the power flow. Ensure
there is no power flow.
6.1.5.13. Check the line voltage In Our SCADA. Ensure there is no voltage flow.
6.1.5.14. Switch ON the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.5.15. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for OPENING our line DISCONNECTOR
SWITCH.
6.1.5.16. If clearances are available then OPEN our line DISCONNECTOR SWITCH (02GS041).
6.1.5.17. OPEN the following isolator (02GS033, 02GS031, 02GS024, 02GS022).
6.1.5.18. Logout in SCADA.
6.1.5.19. Close all the corresponding EARTH SWITCH except LINE EARTH SWITCH.(in GIS)
6.1.5.20. Communicate to remote end and get clearance for CLOSING our line EARTH SWITCH.
(in GIS)
6.1.5.21. Communicate to remote end and ask to CLOSING their end line EARTH SWITCH.
6.1.5.22. Confirm and check the LINE EARTH SWITCHES are in CLOSED condition.
6.1.5.23. Switch OFF the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.5.24. Switch OFF the AC/DC supply.
6.1.5.25. Discharge the line through EARTH ROD for 3 Phases MUST.
6.1.5.26. Then issue the work permit and allow to him.
6.1.5.27. Inform to Remote end, ___________ PGCIL, _____, LDC.
6.1.5.28. Keep area clean around the GIS
6.1.5.29. As there is noise during operation, hence safety PPE like earmuff should be worn

6.1.6.22. Confirm and check the LINE EARTH SWITCHES are in CLOSED condition.
6.1.6.23. Switch OFF the MCB for DS/ES Motor power supply in GIS LCP.
6.1.6.24. Switch OFF the AC/DC supply.
6.1.6.25. Discharge the line through EARTH ROD for 3 Phases MUST.
6.1.6.26. Then issue the work permit and allow to him.
6.1.6.27. Inform to Remote end, ___________ PGCIL, _____, LDC.
6.1.6.28. Keep area clean around the GIS
6.1.6.29. As there is noise during operation, hence safety PPE like earmuff should be worn

6.1.11.2. Ensure the temporary earth rod in all the three phases are taken away from the
equipment and all the testing equipment & tools are also taken from the yard.
6.1.11.3. Check and confirm the work permit had closed.
6.1.11.4. Get the clearance from _____ - Electrical, Operation Shift in Charge.
6.1.11.5. Remove the LOTO tags from the respective LCP.
6.1.11.6. Check the AC/DC power supply and control supply in the respective Relay panels and
LCP are healthy.
6.1.11.7. Check all the Relays are in healthy condition. Check SF6 gas pressure is under normal
pressure.
6.1.11.8. Get the charging code from LDC.
6.1.11.9. Confirm the code with _____ - Electrical, Operation Shift in Charge.
6.1.11.10. Confirm with SWG Operation that the UT LV sides CB are in opened condition and
6.1.11.11. OPEN the following Earth Switches (57) at LOCAL mode (If it is in closed position).
A. Bay-01 = ACA02GS012, ACA02GS014, ACA02GS002 & ACA02GS003 (57L)
B. Bay-02 = ACA02GS022 & ACA02GS024
6.1.11.12. Log in the User “operator” in SCADA for further closing operation of Isolators and CB.
6.1.11.13. CLOSE the following Isolators (89) from SCADA.
A. Bay-01 = ACA02GS011 & ACA02GS013
B. Bay-02 = ACA02GS021 & ACA02GS023
C. Line Isolator = ACA02GS001
6.1.11.14. Check the Isolator and Earth Switch status physically at LOCAL.
6.1.11.15. Before close the Main CB (ACA02GS010), communicate with _____ –
Electrical & Operation Shift in Charge.
6.1.11.16. Get the confirmation and CLOSE the GT#1 Main CB (ACA02GS010) from SCADA.
6.1.11.17. CLOSE the Tie CB (ACA02GS020) from SCADA.
6.1.11.18. Check the electrical parameters in SCADA and ensure the Main CB & Tie CB found
normal at LOCAL.
6.1.11.19. Logout from SCADA.
6.1.11.20. Inform to respective persons.
6.1.11.21. Keep area clean around the GIS

6.1.13.10. OPEN the following Earth Switches (57) at LOCAL mode (If it is in closed position).
A. Bay-03 = ACA01GS034, ACA01GS032, ACA01GS042 & ACA01GS043 (57L)
B. Bay-02 = ACA01GS022 & ACA01GS024
6.1.13.11. Log in the User “operator” in SCADA for further closing operation of Isolators and
CB.
6.1.13.12. CLOSE the following Isolators (89) from SCADA.
A. Bay-03 = ACA01GS031 & ACA01GS033
B. Bay-02 = ACA01GS021 & ACA01GS023
C. Line Isolator = ACA01GS041
6.1.13.13. Check the Isolator and Earth Switch status physically at LOCAL.
6.1.13.14. Before close the Main CB (ACA01GS030), communicate with _____ – Electrical &
Operation Shift in Charge.
6.1.13.15. Get the confirmation and CLOSE the Reactor Main CB (ACA01GS030) from SCADA.
6.1.13.16. CLOSE the Tie CB (ACA01GS020) from SCADA.
6.1.13.17. Check the electrical parameters in SCADA and ensure the Main CB & Tie CB found
normal at LOCAL.
6.1.13.18. Logout from SCADA.
6.1.13.19. Ensure the Reactor runs normally.
6.1.13.20. Inform to respective persons.
6.1.13.21. Keep area clean around the GIS
6.1.13.22. As there is noise during operation, hence safety PPE like earmuff should be worn
6.1.13.23. While power isolation and Normalization For safety use Electrical gloves
6.1.13.24. In case of Electrical shock report to control room and Arrange for first aid as required.
