1) Tell me about a problem at work and how you resolved it.

The designer on the 3rd track project laid out the sanitary sewer at Covert and Urban. I checked
for completeness and overlaid the piles onto the drawing. They put a sanitary manhole through a
pile. I shifted the manhole south to clear the pile. Problem solved.

2) Tell me about a time you were given conflicting information and you had to make a decision.

A coworker told me the superintended went out and marked out areas of the platform at Dyre Ave
to cut and fill. He gave me the areas the super marked out and told me to put it on a drawing. I
told him the cuts and fills are not correct according to the survey information we had from 50
States. I told him I can not make a drawing with those cut and fills because they are not correct.
What I can do is use the survey information and make a drawing and I ended up doing it.

3) What was your greatest professional accomplishment, and why?

My greatest professional accomplishment was when I made a spread sheet for billing which had
a drop-down menu and when you select the type of material that was used the other columns
automatically populated saving time and money.

4) What is the most challenging aspect of your work now?

The most challenging aspect of my work now is trying to get everything done by the end of the
day. I have so many things to do at once and I have many people asking me for different things.

5) How do you decide what to do first when you have multiple tasks to perform?

I prioritize on what is most important to least. I’ll accomplish the most important items first and
work towards the lesser important tasks.

6) Describe the latest laws or principles that pertain to your profession.

7) How would your supervisor describe you?

Smart, hardworking, great problem solver, and serious.

8) Do you prefer working alone or in a group? Why?

I prefer working alone but don’t mind working in a group. I feel there are less distractions working
alone. Productivity increases working alone. Working in a group has its benefits as well.

9) Where do you see yourself in 5, 10, 15 years from now?

I see myself as the project manager and having my professional engineering license after 5 years
from now. After 10 to 15 years from now hopefully a senior manager.

10) Why did you choose your current profession?

I enjoy the challenges of a project engineer from day to day.

11) Why do you want to leave your employer and work for us?

I always wanted to work for the LIRR. It’s been a dream of mine for a while.
12) How would you deal with a difficult subordinate?

I would try to work it out with them first by asking what is wrong or bothering them. Sometimes all it
takes is to work out their current problem and its solved.

13) How would you deal with a team member you felt was not pulling his or her weight?

I would try to give the team member something they enjoy and can handle within the work limits.

14) Do you have any questions for us?

No.

15) What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My ability to problem solve and ability to prioritize. My weakness is I tend to overthink things.

16) Tell us about a significant design project you have been on to date?

The 3rd Track Project which is a project where we will be putting retaining walls, track, sound
barrier walls, platforms, undergrade crossings, garages, and utility relocations from Floral Park to
Hicksville.

17) What documents are needed on the job site and why?

Schedule, Permits, safe work plans, construction work plan, quality plan, and contact names and
numbers.

18) Why is quality important and what aspects of quality are important?

Quality is important because they are like the police of construction. The contract documents and
specifications are like the law. A quality personnel makes sure the contractor follows the
specifications and drawings, much like an officer makes sure people abide by the law.

19) Be able to speak about diversity in a workplace.

It’s important to be around diverse people because of different views.

20) Why should we choose you?

I would be a great addition to the LIRR because of my current experience and skills.
