Master Teacher – I Principal – I

Content Standard

The learners demonstrate an understanding of:

Work using constant force, power, gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, and elastic
potential energy.

Performance Standard

The learners shall be able to:

Develop a written plan and implement a “Newton’s Olympics”

Learning Competencies

Differentiate Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson students will be able to:

 Identify the gravitational potential energy and the kinetic energy

 Apply the basic concept of the gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy
 Differentiate the gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy through problem
solving.
II. Subject Matter

III. Methodology
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY

A. Awareness

 Routine Activities (Students follow the Daily Routine Activities)

 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance

B. Activity
 Kinetic Energy Kinetic Energy – energy in motion
 Gravitational Potential Energy Gravitational Potential Energy – energy at rest

C. Abstraction

 The teacher discusses the Concept of

Kinetic Energy and Gravitational
Potential Energy

Kinetic Energy

KE = ½ mv2

where: m – mass Students participate the lesson

v – velocity

Potential Energy

PE = mgh

where: m – mass
g – gravity with constant Students participate the lesson
value of 9.8 m/s2
h – height
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY

D. Analysis (Board Work)

Kinetic Energy
 A 1000kg. car has a velocity of 17m/s. Students solve the problem on the board
What is the car’s kinetic energy?

Potential Energy
 When a 1.0kg book is lifted 0.5m from
the table. What is its potential energy? Students solve the problem on the board

E. Application

 Work is a way of transferring of energy.

Since energy is the capacity to do work.

IV. Evaluation.

Solve the problem by showing its solution.

Kinetic Energy

A 800kg. car has a velocity of 20m/s. What is the car’s kinetic energy?

Potential Energy

A book is lifted to 0.75m from the table, but the table is 1.0m above the floor, what would be
the potential energy of the book if the reference level were the floor?

V. Agreement

Explain the relationship between work, energy, and power.
