SEIVING/SIFTING

SEIVING IS A PROCESS USED TO SEPARATE MIXTURE

FROM SMALLER SOLID PARTICES FROM LARGER SOLID
PARTICLES . The word "sift" derives from "sieve". In
cooking, a sifter is used to separate and break up
clumps in dry ingredients such as flour, as well as to
aerate and combine them. A strainer is a form
of sieve used to separate solids from liquid.
USE OF MAGNET
Magnets are used to make a tight seal on the doors
to refrigerators and freezers. They power speakers in
stereos, earphones, and televisions. Magnets are
used to store data in computers, and are important
in scanning machines called MRIs
(magnetic resonance imagers), which doctors use to
look inside people's bodies. This is the way of
seperrating metallic to non-metalic materials.
THRESHING
Threshing is the process of loosening the edible part
of grain from the husks and straw to which it is
attached. It is the step in grain preparation after
reaping and before winnowing, which separates the
grain from the chaff Threshing does not remove
the bran from the grain.
CHROMOTOGRAPHY
Chromatography is a laboratory technique for the
separation of a mixture. The mixture is dissolved in a
fluid called the mobile phase, which carries it
through a structure holding another material called
the stationary phase. The various constituents of the
mixture travel at different speeds, causing them to
separate.
DISTILLATION
Distillation is the process of separating the
components or substances from a liquid mixture by
using selective boiling and condensation. Distillation
may result in essentially complete separation, or it
may be a partial separation that increases the
concentration of selected components in the
mixture.
