ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND WEB-BASED INFROMATION SYSTEMS 2

With advent of technology, the financial and banking institutions have moved from the

traditional systems to web based and information systems that are artificial intelligence enabled.

The web-based information system in this case involve a browser a server and a database. Every

component of the web-based information system has a function and they all coordinate to make

the system operational. For instance, database server hosts the data that is readily retrieved by the

web- based database application (Fox and Tye ,2016). In the banking and financial industry, the

web-based information system is AI enabled; which means that in performs the functions that

would otherwise be performed by human. For instance, the AI enabled web-based information

system is designed to identify the needs of the client and to convey relevant information to the

right client. The client interacts with the web-based information system through a browser that is

installed in the digital technology such as a smart phone or a computer.

The essence of understanding the web-based information system in relations to AI and

digital technology is because, currently in the banking and financial institutions, the systems are

embedded on web-based information systems that are enabled with AI (Fox and Tye ,2016).

However, despite the benefits of this development both to the clients and the banking and finance

institutions, there are factors that need to be addressed such, as the security of the clients and

institutions’ data. One of the major concerning issues is the security of data and the systems

developed on web-based information system or AI. With the advent of technology came the data

security threats such as, cybercrime (Fox and Tye ,2016). Therefore, the benefits of

incorporation of AI to web-based information systems necessitates the study of the development

to identify identity its weaknesses and strengths and to bridge the gaps or the loophole that

makes AI and web-based information systems vulnerable to cybercrimes. As stated previously in

the research proposal, the cases of cybercrime form the basis for this research to identify the

weaknesses of the AI and web-based information systems and the remedies in such areas. The

adoption of advanced technology in the banking and finance institution has more benefits than

the risks. However, the risks are more detrimental which necessitates a research to design

measures to prevent it form being vulnerable to security risks. The dynamics in technology also

another reason why the application of Ai and web-based information systems need to be

reviewed regularly to avoid surprises that come with compromised IT and AI systems.
