FAMILY BACKGROUND

 Ryan's mother was an opera singer; she died when he was only 6, while his father fight
to sustain him and his three siblings.
 His mother's wish was that no one of her children would make music as a line of work;
knowing how tough life is for a musician with insufficient income.
 Ryan Cayabyab firstly took up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in the
University of the Philippines, Diliman.
 At the same moment, he searched for an employment to sustain his studies, and sooner
join with then-Senator Salvador Laurel as accompanist for the Development Bank of the
Philippines (DBP) Chorale Ensemble.
 Noting his incomparable ability on the piano, the Senator presented him a scholarship
that would allow Ryan to alter his course and hold learning in music.
 Ryan is married to Emmy Punsalan and they were blessed with two children whom they
named Cristina Maria and Antonio Maria.

 "Da Coconut Nut"
o Popularized by Smokey Mountain, this song became one of the favorite pieces
performed by many choirs in the Philippines and abroad.
 "Kailan"
o One of the first songs popularized by Smokey Mountain, this song was also
performed by Juris of MYMP.
 "Can This Be Love"
o Another love song popularized by Smokey Mountain, "Can This Be Love" was
also performed by Sarah Geronimo for the movie of the same title.
 "Limang Dipang Tao"
o One of Cayabyab's upbeat songs, this song was performed by various artists
such as Lea Salonga and Barbie Almalbis of Barbie's Cradle.
 "Kumukutikutitap"
o "Kumukutikutitap" is one of Cayabyab's most popular songs performed during
Christmas.
 "Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka"
o Both Regine Velasquez and the Eraserheads have their own renditions of this
song first popularized by Basil Valdez. This is also one of the most popular songs
for choirs in the Philippines.
 "Paraiso"
o Another hit by Smokey Mountain, "Paraiso" (Paradise) tells the story of what it is
like to live in and make the most out of a polluted world.
