REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDING DESIGN

TABLE OF CONTENT AS CALCULATED EUROCODE

1. GENERAL
1.1 SCOPE OF WORK

The calculation is made to explain the detail design of

Reinforced Concrete Building.

1.3 DESIGN CRITERIA

The listed are applicable codes, specifications, and EN 1990.2002:

Uniform Building Code
standard drawings: Eurocode 0: Basis of
1997 (UBC '97)
Structural Design

American Concrete EN 1992-1-1:

Institute 1995 (ACI Eurocode 2: Design of
318-95) Concrete Structures

Design Specification
for Civil and Structural

Civil Engineering
Standards, No.0504.05-
ES-40.XX

Specification For Civil

Work, No.0504.05-ES-

1.4 MAJOR MATERIAL

Classification and engineering properties of major material to be

used for this building structure are listed below :

Concrete fc' = 35Mpa (cube fc' = 37 Mpa (cube

strength) = 28 Mpa strength) = 30 Mpa
(cylinder strength) (cylinder strength)

E = 2.625 x 105 kg/cm2 E = 33 Mpa

ϒc = 2400 kg/m3 ϒc = 25 kN/m3

Reinforcing grade SD 40 S275

Steel Bar Fy = 400 N/mm2 fyk = 500 Mpa
E = 2.1 x 106 kg/cm2 E = 210 000 N/mm2
ϒst = 7850 kg/m3 ϒst = 78.5 kN/m3

1.5 BASIC ASSUMPTION

Structure is modeled as moment resisting system ( concrete main

frame ). Concrete frame supports are modeled as fixed supports.

For member design loading combinations refering to ACI 318-95 (American EN 1991.1.1.2002
Concrete Institute)

In the permanent condition, stresses due to external load shall not

more than allowable stresses.
But for temporary condition (combination with wind loading) allowable stresses can EN 1991-1-4:2005
be increased by Eurocode 1: Actions on
33,33%. Structures - Wind actions
