Purpose of Actuator Valve with Excess Flow Check Valve

As the name suggests, actuator valve is a valve fitted on outlet port of 450 Kg LPG cylinder
supplied by oil companies to actuate Self closing valve of cylinder to discharge of LPG from
cylinder to Manifold System. Safety is one of the primary concerns in any industrial plant &
commercial space. Normally the cylinders supplied by oil companies fitted with Bullfinch tank
combo valve model no. 6078. The liquid outlet of same is a self closing valve for discharge of
liquid lpg from that we require some fitting like adapter or any device who actuate self closing
valve for discharge of LPG from cylinder to outlet manifold safely. the cylinder connected to
manifold by means of Flexible hose who can rupture. In case of rupture in flexible hose,
malfunctioning of QRC/ Stuck of Pin the whole cylinder should exhaust in atmosphere which
is hazardous for property & humans may be risk of explosion also. To minimize the risk of this
type of scenario there is a need of actuator valve with inbuilt excess flow check valve.

As an excess flow check valve closes only when the force of the liquid or gas passing
through the valve exceeds the power of the spring holding it open. Excess flow valves are
mechanical safety device installed gas service lines to control the flow of the liquids or gases in
case of excess flow of rated capacity.

How does an actuator valve work?

• Actuator valve fitted by means of threaded inlet nut on Liquid outlet port of cylinder
valve in off position.
• Rotate handle of valve at on position the gas start flow inside the actuator valve which
have self closing / check valve/ QRC fitted at the outlet of Actuator valve.
• Check whether LPG flow started by releasing LPG from release valve. Port.
• If Yes Close the actuator valve flow of LPG from cylinder valve is closed than Relies the
LPG from valve inside to connect QRC to manifold bia Flexible hose.
• Rotate valve handle at on position LPG flow will start to manifold.
• The body of the Actuator Valve consist inlet Nut. Valve opening slide Pin, came, Gland,
Spindle & excess flow check valve is consists of a sleeve, keepers, spring, guide and
poppet. Under normal conditions, the valve is kept open by the spring. But if there is a
rupture in the Flexible hose or malfunctioning of QRC/PIN , The flow of the liquid
passing through the valve increases result increasing of Pressure loss. Result closing of
EFCV. The excess flow check valve ensures safety by stopping the flow of excess gas or
liquid into the atmosphere and causing damage to life and property.

MOC Of Valve:

• All rigid parts of our Valve is made from Stainless steel 304/Brass is 319 or Equivalent.
The test certificate also be provided.
• All Gasket should be made of Nitrile rubber / Viton .
• Springs are made of SS 304.
• Handle made of mild steel with PU Sleave.
• Service life 6 Years
