Strawberry Tree Characteristics

The Strawberry Tree is technically not a
Season: Fruits in Fall and Winter
tree but is actually a large shrub native
to Western Europe and the
Mediterranean. The fruits that are
produced can be used to make wines,
liquors, and preserves. The tree grows
an average of 6”- 10” a year. It is one of
few plants that fruits in the winter,
making it a central part of the ecosystem
for animals such as birds that eat fruits year-round.
