American History

President Harry S. Truman said, “America was not built on fear. America was built on

courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.” It was

September 11, 2001, it was a normal day but that all changed in an instance. Everyone’s lives

were going to change and families were going to change forever. There was a hijacking on four

planes. Two of the four planes were hit the twin towers, one hit the Pentagon and the fourth hit a

field in Pennsylvania.

On September 11, Stephanie just dropped off her oldest daughter off at preschool and her

youngest was 8 months and she was not expecting to be the worse days of America’s life. She

was expecting to be a good day and pick up her daughter at a regular time. When Stephanie

heard about the planes she was worried about if she should go back and get her daughter from

school. She worried about her daughter's lives if something happened and on raising them. And

you should not be afraid to send your kids to school because you do not know what was going to

happen. But when she heard about the planes it was one of the worst days of the countries life.

She finally understood that anything can happen and we have to hold each other closer. We do

not know what is going on with people lives and we do not know if those people on those planes

had a fight with a spouse or a family member.

We still worry about the terrorist in today age and era. When the terrorist attacked they

had other planes and had other tragedies and this is all one location. This is all a worry because

of all the thing we do not know what is going to happen. After this happened she became more

familiar with what was going on around her. She saw how the world was changing in different

ways. That we had to be more aware of our surroundings and see how we should not be scared of
people. Yes, they are going to be terrorist but we do not know when we are going to die, those

people did not know that day was their last day on earth. We have to be thankful for our families

and friends every day that we are here now.

Finally, she saw how after the attack that we did not change and we became an actual

“American” in the United States. We became united and helped out the people in New York and

Washington. Her advice is “Evil is never the answer and we have our own unique ethnicities but

when you are here you are an American.” You still can be any religion you want but if you want

to be free and get out of your country that is not good and will not give you a lot of freedom than

this is the country you want to be in.

In conclusion, people just thought it was going to be a normal day go to work, go to

school, go see friends or family and your day will turn upside down. Families and friends did not

know if they were going to lose their spouse, kids, nieces, nephews, parents, grandparents, and

grandkids. People did not know that they were going to be hijacking on planes then that started

to put more security in the airports.
