Terms of Seasonal Employment

Ian,

We are pleased to offer you seasonal employment in the position of Divemaster at the Florida Sea Base,
subject to a background check acceptable to us. In the event that your background check discloses
information which would affect our decision to employ you, or you are not eligible for membership in the
Boy Scouts of America, we reserve the right to take all appropriate actions, including rescission of this
offer of employment.

If you are not currently registered as a member in good standing with the Boy Scouts of America, you
must also submit a completed BSA Adult Application (enclosed with this letter) and $registration fee.
Your signature on this letter will indicate your acceptance of this position subject to the following terms
and conditions of employment:

- You will assume your duties on May 20, 2019 and continue through August 24, 2019You are
expected to arrive at the Florida Sea Base on May 19, 2019.
- Your Salary will be $275.00 per week, payable semi-monthly. You will be furnished food and lodging
during your employment.
- Evidence of a satisfactory medical examination, using the enclosed form, and current vaccinations
must be presented upon reporting for your assignment.
- You will serve as a Divemaster and will be directly responsible to Joe Angelo, Scuba Program
Director and must maintain an acceptable standard of performance of the duties outlined in your
position description (enclosed). You are expected to successfully complete all staff training provided
to you and to conduct yourself at all times in a manner consistent with the Scout Oath or Promise,
Scout Law and Values of the BSA.
- You must wear the uniform prescribed in the Staff Guidebook (enclosed).
- You must be or agree to become a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America and subscribe to
the Declaration of Religious principle and fully cooperate with the policies, programs and
management of Florida Sea Base.
- Your employment with Florida Sea Base is based upon our continued satisfaction and needs. We may
terminate your employment with or without cause. In situations where we believe it is in the best
interest of our staff or participants we may require an employee to leave Florida Sea Base on 4 hours
notice. Any termination decision will be final. You may also terminate your own employment with us
at any time on twenty-four (24) hours written notice to your immediate supervisor.
- As a seasonal employee you will not be eligible for insurance, vacation, or paid holidays. However, if
you work 1,000 or more hours during the first 12 months of employment or at least 1,000 hours in
any calendar year thereafter you will be eligible to join the BSA retirement.
- As a Boy Scouts of America National Council Employee you are always eligible to make salary deferral
contributions to the Boy Scouts of America 403(b) Tax-Deferred Annuity Program with includes
Fedelity Investments and Mutual of America investment fund options.




- In agreeing to work at the Florida Sea Base, you are affirming your commitment that while employed
by us you will:

1. Have no contact (use or possession) with illegal drugs, including marijuana.
2. Refrain from using or being under the influence of alcoholic beverages on Florida Sea Base
property or in uniform anywhere; refrain from drinking and driving, and will not assist or
encourage any staff or participants to obtain alcoholic beverages.
3. Not harass, bully or abuse (physically or verbally) any youth or adult, including other staff
members.
4. Not engage in theft, vandalism or criminal activity of any kind.
5. Never engage in the unauthorized or inappropriate use of any Sea Base equipment, supplies,
vehicles, facilities or property.
6. Conduct yourself at all times, both on and off Sea Base Property, such that you are a credit to your
self, Florida Sea Base, and the Boy Scouts of America.

unable to live up to them, please return this letter of employment unsigned.

I have read an understand the terms and conditions set forth in this letter offering me employment at
Florida Sea Base and the Staff Guidebook and accept and agree to abide by them and the conditions,
policies and rules and regulations of Florida Sea Base and the Boy Scouts of America; and the at I may be
terminated with or without cause at the sole discretion of my employer. In such event, I will only be
entitled to the wages owed to me at the time of termination. I also understand that I may terminate my
own employment at any time upon written notice to the director of the department where I am assigned.
I further agree that I will voluntarily participate in base activities which foster and promote the program
of Florida Sea Base, as requested, even though such activities may be conducted after regular working
hours.
