On October 9th, Troop 284 visited Flag Plaza. While we were
Westmoreland Fayette Council, Boy Scouts of
America
there we learned about some the flags that once flew over our country,
https://www.facebook.com/WestmorelandFayette raised and lowered a 12x18 foot flag, and climbed the Eagle Trail
BSA/ Staircase. Flag plaza is a Laurel Highlands Council run program. It is a
Bushy Run District, Boy Scouts of America
great way to learn about the flags and why they were created. Flag Plaza
https://www.facebook.com/bushyrunBSA/ also has 5 flag poles that are 80 feet tall. Flag Plaza is a great way for old
and new scouts to learn the history about flags.

Fishing Derby
By Marty T.
The scouts went to Indian Lake Friday October 5th and set up camp for the night. After the
tents were up and camp was set we built a fire and had some hot dogs. We played a game of
football and some scouts fished. We were up Saturday morning at 6.00am and had a breakfast of
pop tarts and donuts,
The people starting coming at 6.30am for the Fishing Derby. They had the scouts in teams of
three measure the fish and report the type and sizes. The derby was from 8.00am to 11.00am.
They gave out 10 trophies to the lucky winners. I had a good time and we left at noon.
