Brendan Z., and myself. Leaders included Mr. Corlazzoli, Mr.
Marflak, Mr. Gunzburger, Mr. Suranski & Mr. Dzaack. This
Information was our kayak outing to try out the folding kayaks that we
spent weeks building. The outing and the kayaks were a

The leaves and scenery around the lake were beautiful. For
Facebook meals, we ate like kings, with highlights including crepes,
Westmoreland Fayette Council, Boy Scouts of lasagna, and smoked pulled pork. It was a great outing, and
America lots of good memories were made.

Pitcairn Monroeville Sportmen's Club Beautification and Conservation Project PAGE 3
By Collin G. October 2020

The name of my project is the Pitcairn Monroeville Sportmen's Club Beautification and
Conservation Project. For the project we tilled the fields at the club and planted
sorghum and sunflowers. This will benefit the wildlife as the animals can feed on the
planted sorghum in the winter when food is scarce. Brush by the entrance to the club
was cleared, and the area was tilled and wildflowers were planted. Some brush on the
fields above the entrance was also cleared. The club plans to get bee hives, and the
flowers will benefit the bee population. The flowers will also improve soil health,
prevent erosion, improve water quality, and provide a good habitat for beneficial
insects and wildlife. The project will benefit the club by beautifying the entrance as well
as helping the bee and animal population in the area. The status of my project is that
all the physical labor is done, and I just need to finish the paperwork. The project took
a little more time than originally planned because the weather was dry this summer, so
we waited until fall to plant the wildflowers to mimic when mother nature plants
wildflowers. The project was a fun learning experience, and I got to do some new
things like driving big equipment and planting!

Club Range Range

By Zach C. October 2020

The outdoor archery range at PMSC has fallen to disrepair in recent years and my
project is removing the old archery stand and replacing it with and new shooting
platform and target stands. So far, I have had multiple teams at the club building a
total of eight target backstop stands. The backstops still need tin roofing and siding
which should be arriving in the next week or two and we’ll have a team there to
finish the backstops fully. My dad and I also recently worked to get two of the eight
stands in place and level. We will be putting the remaining six in to place soon. Once
in place we can then install the tin roof and sides. This will complete the first phase
of the project. Phase two will start in the spring with the removal of the old stand
and the building of the new platform. This will be a bigger project and I will need the
troop’s help.
