On Saturday, December 15th our Troop participated in

National Wreaths Across America Day at the Union Cemetery in
Irwin. This is an annual event held across the country where
wreaths are laid on veteran’s graves in remembrance for their
service. The ceremony at Union Cemetery opened with a service
member from each of our military branches placing a wreath by
the cemetery marker that honors our unknown soldiers. When the
ceremony ended, our Troop, along with many other volunteers,
placed wreaths on the veteran’s graves. Those Scouts
participating were Zach C, David H, A.J. M, Joseph M, Zach M,
Michael M, and Anthony S. Also participating were scoutmasters
Mr. Dzaack, Mr. Corlazzoli, Mr. Minnick, Mr. Marflak, as well as
the Hargraves family, and some Troop parents and family
members. It was an honor for our Troop to participate in the
Wreaths Across America campaign. Not only would I like to do it
again next year, but also hopefully donate some of our Christmas
tree money to purchase wreaths for our veteran's graves.

Life Scout Rank Advancements

Before the Christmas party on December

22nd, the troop took time to recognize members
who advanced in rank to Life Scout after the
September Court of Honor. Zach C, Louie B, David
H. and Collin G. (absent) were recognized for their
achievement. Dr. Dzaack also challenged them. He
passed them a roll of toilet paper and told them to
take as much as they thought they needed. Some
took a few squares and others took an arm length.
After their decision he then asked them to provide
the troop with words of advice for the number of
squares they took. David H. really had to think for
his responses since he took the most toilet paper

but ended up with solid suggestions. The boys
then pinned their parents. Mr. Dzaack then
presented each with a Life Scout duffel bag. Good

luck in your quest to Eagle Scout gentlemen!
