SELF HEALING PAVEMENT

Abstract
Self-healing pavement is a new technology of construction in the field
of transportation engineering. It represents advancement in materials
involved in the construction of the pavement. In which some
conduction materials in the form of a steel wools is added with the
bituminous material at a required amount, and these steel wool added
help the bituminous material to regains their strength after some life
span period and result in easy repair, maintenance and etc.
Incorporating self-healing technology into the road design process has
the potential to transform road construction and maintenance
processes by increasing the lifespan of roads and eliminating the need
for road maintenance.
