Make an outline of the procedures in root canal treatment of monorooted canal (from oral
diagnosis to recall

2. Give the complaint of your patient. Explain its history

3. What is your tentative diagnosis. Give your basis

4. What is your final diagnosis. Give your basis

5. Enumerate the pre- treatment procedures. Give the significance in endodontic treatment

6. Draw an outline form of access prep on your case( tooth to be treated)

7. What determines the size and shape of access prep for monorooted canal

8. What is pulp extirpation? How is it done?

9. What is AWL, EL, TLI, WL, SW, TL

10. What do you mean by cleaning the root canal? How is it done?

11. What are the criteria for possible obturation?

12. How is evaluation for possible obturation done?

13. What is temporization? How is it done?

14. Explain briefly the technique for obturation of monorooted canal

15. What will be your final restoration?

16. What is the importance of

1. Procedures of Root Canal Treatment for Mono

a) Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

b) Endodontic Entries/ Access Prep

c) Canal Preparation

i. Working Length Determination

ii. Pulp Extirpation

iii. Cleaning and Shaping

iv. Temporization

v. Obturation

 Final Restoration

d) Recall

2-4
5.Pre-treatment Procedures

a) Objective: Infection Control

i. Example:

6.Draw and Outline

7.Preoperative Radiographs determines the shape, size and location of the pulp chamber and root
canal

8.Pulp Extirpation- removal of the entire pulp that is still in the initial stages of irreversible pulpitis or
pulp degeneration

a) Procedures

i. Establish a straight line

ii. Explore the root canal using smooth broach until it reaches the DCJ

iii. Disengage the pulp by drawing the smooth broach into the canal walls

iv. 360 rotation of smooth broach itouching the walls

v. Barbed nerve broach is inserted into the middle third of the root canal

vi. Without touching the walls, rotate 360 along its axiswhile catching pulp

vii. The cervical and middle third will adhere to the nerve broach while apical third is
hanging at the end

viii. Do not reinsert if entire pulp is not removed

ix. If reinserting the dentinal tubules will bind with the nerve broach. It is important to
use the right size of broach

9.

a) AWL- measurement of the wire that has been inserted into the canal from the tip of the
wire up to the rubber stopper

b) EL-

c) TLI- measured on the xray- from he apex up to the reference point or rubber stopper

d) SW- measured on the xray from the top of the wireup to the rubber stopper

e) WL- disance from the DCJ up to the reference point

f) TL- distance from the external point of the crown up to the apex of tooth

10. Cleaning of Root Canal

a) Cleaned primarily by irrigation using irrigating syringe and solution

11.Shaping of Root Canal

a) Attainment of the free access of root canal by mechanical means like files

12.Criteria for possible obturation

a) Asymptomatic tooth

b) Intact seal
c) Dryable canal

d) No sinus tract(if previous present)

e) No foul odor

f) Properly flared and shaped canal

g) Negative culture test

13.Evaluation for Obturation

a) Density- uniform density from cervical to apical

b) Length - GP

c) Flare-

d) No foul odor

e) Asymptomatic

14.Temporisation is used to seal the temporarily in between appointments(ex. Fermin)
