Mukhya Sanchalak (Chief Executive Officer)

Founded in 1931, Vidya Bhawan is an ecosystem of 10 educational institutions (3 schools, 4

colleges, 3 resource centres) encompassing formal education from nursery to post-graduation
besides work on training, skilling, sustainability in agriculture and nature conservation. We
directly serve over 4000 students and indirectly serve several tens of thousands more through
outreach activities. A staff of over 500 is managed by the Vidya Bhawan Society. For schools
and colleges, Vidya Bhawan conceives education in the broadest sense to include not only
conventional curricular academics but also education that embraces the arts, sports, community
engagement and wellness. Vidya Bhawan also works on skilling in a range of trades, besides
substantial engagement with rural communities on agriculture and ancillary activities. Overall,
Vidya Bhawan strongly believes in education for responsible citizenship and leadership as well
as for social justice, equal opportunities and inclusion. With its base in southern Rajasthan,
Vidya Bhawan has a rich history of collaboration and outreach at the state, national and
international levels.

Experience & Qualification

Leadership & Vision: Experience in leading and motivating large and diverse teams; previous
work matching the organisation’s vision1
Administration & Finance: Substantive experience in different aspects of administration and HR;
familiarity with budgeting, financial procedures and compliance; experience in fundraising
Academics: Postgraduate degree in any discipline, Ph.D. preferred; substantive academic career;
quality, peer-reviewed research publications
Communication: Experience and skills in communicating with diverse stakeholders through oral
and written modes; demonstrated ability to deepen partnerships with academic institutions,
government agencies, NGOs, citizen groups and business groups & corporates.
