“A Busy Saturday”
Kyle woke on Saturday morning in a very good mood. A whole day, all to himself! But his
parents had other ideas. When he came down for breakfast, Kyle’s mother asked him to take out
the trash. Kyle carried the trash bag from the kitchen out to the can by the garage. His father saw
him, and told him that he needed to cut the grass. Kyle spent and hour pushing the lawn mower back and
forth, back and forth, across the lawn. He put the lawn mower away and went into the kitchen for a cool drink.
“I’m glad you are here,” his mother said. “Let’s go to the store. You need some new shoes.”
Inside Kyle groaned, but he went with his mother to the store and they bought shoes. When they got home,
Kyle decided to go out into the back yard to relax in the hammock.
“Oh, there you are!” his father said. “Please start the grill for me. I have some steaks marinating for dinner.
Kyle started the grill, then he helped his father watch the steaks. They had dinner, and Kyle’s mother asked
him to help clear the table. Kyle’s mother washed the dishes and Kyle dried them. Before he knew it, it was time
for bed.
“What happened to my day?” Kyle wondered.
